Fair use rationales

Fair use rationale for Image:Arrival_(Mike_Oldfield).jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Arrival_(Mike_Oldfield).jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:15, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:Blue_Peter_(Mike_Oldfield).jpg

I have tagged Image:Blue_Peter_(Mike_Oldfield).jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:16, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Images

I am adding these images to the relevant singles articles which exist about them. One example is Arrival (song). I was under the impression that artwork such as this is acceptable, when there is already an article for it. TubularWorld 10:19, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but you need to provide an IN DEPTH rationale as to why the use of a copyrighted album cover is acceptable. You might

want to see what other uploaders have used. ShakespeareFan00 10:21, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok.... give me an example...

I do not see how my F-U-R is any worse than a random album piece of artwork which i have looked up on wikipedia. "Cover of Bon Jovi's self-titled album" on Image:Bon Jovi Album.jpg . TubularWorld 10:24, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thak you for uploading Image:Don't Get Done, Get Dom titles.jpg, however there is a minor problem with the image summary, it would be appreciated if you could add details of the source media (DVD/film/Video) from which it was captured such as title, volume code, distributor, along with the time code of the relevant frame (if available), Thanks.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Emerald Energy Logo.png)=

Thanks for uploading Image:Emerald Energy Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:39, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

My comment has two parts:

Why I Capitalize Titles, and Spell Capitalize with a Zed

It's the way I was taught.

Why you do not capitalize titles

Please reply. I know why you spell "capitalize" with an ess, it's the way you were taught :-) I didn't revert the change at Pamela's page as it seems a small thing. Pete St.John 17:49, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

good answer (at my Talk): the manual of style doesn't capitalize words in section titles, except the first. I had never noticed. Apparently the sense is that these are not so much titles (implying 'naming' an item) as sentences defining links (implying 'description'). I probably will continue capitalizing when I'm thinking "title" but will at least be more aware of the countervailing trend, thanks. Pete St.John 21:03, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Bon Jovi and Def Leppard

Very interesting indeed -we appear to like the same bands!!!!! I have seen both bands three times each!. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

The Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi images are both mine from the concert in Dublin in May last year ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:25, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Both were superb - I love that kind of 80s melodic rock. I'm also into Whitesnake (Vivian used to play guitar with them), Aerosmith and Steelheart. Saw Def Leppard at the Colston Hall in Bristol twice and once in the CIA (Cardiff Indoor Arena). I'd have loved to seen them outdoors such as Wembley. I also wish I could have seen Queen!!!! Keep rockin in the free world!!! - I haven't got Lost Highway yet -to be honest the new song hasn't really touched a chord with me yet but I'm sure there are some good songs on the new album -hopefully Richie will get himself together real soon. Keep up the good work on the songs. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes it was a surprise with Richie -I thought they all had their heads screwed on tightly -but I guess thats what a marriage breakup and pressures of fame combined can do to you. You may want to check out Steelheart at:

♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:40, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

is another good un'.

Anyway I won't sidetrack you from your good wiki work any further. All the best! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm pretty amazed the articles Miss You in a Heartbeat and Two Steps Behind didn;t exist as with many of the other classics. I've added to the latter. in my room I have a 100 watt Marshall concert amp with a stereo on top of it so when I play along with the albums it sounds exactly like it!!!! The volume is on like 0.1 and its still very loud!!! I like filling in guitar parts also!!! I have a Fender Stat sky blue -like the one richie plays on keep the faith and a Fender Telecaster Royal Purple. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Sunburst but am saving up for an Ibanez like Steve Vai plays on For the Love of God. But real ones are £2000!!!!! -this will take ages!!!! Also by the side of the amp is my TV and DVD player - where I can play along with the live DVDS -Bon Jovi crush tour is good - I wish the DVD of bon Jovi at Giants Stadium 2001 was available -I consider this as one of the best.

I took for granted those songs had articles. Anyway I'll try to expand them when I can. Keep it up!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:53, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Code.FM

A tag has been placed on Code.FM, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jauerback 16:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
