Whatever anyone's opinion one way or another of what they teach, they're still one of the oldest surviving higher education institutions in the world. Which, come to think of it, might bear mentioning in the article somewhere, no? -[[User:Finn-Zoltan|FZ]] 20:52, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC) |

What the heck is this??? This is not a university but an islamic religious school. This article is about religion and politics, not science, humanities, philosophy, jurisprudence, economics, etc. Get rid of this nonsense ! 141.53.194.251 15:31, 20 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Mark of Shame
Red Ghutrah: Mark of Shame (Saudi Arabia)
I have been observing first-hand now for over two years. When I arrived I had the highest expectations because I was thrall to the manifesto to which these people profess. I had a basic understanding of Islam, I thought, and my gold standard was and still is, the Holy Quran and the behavior of the Prophet (pbuh). What I have found has shocked me. I have been disillusioned not by the religion but by the people who have been exposed to it for 1,424 years here in this country.
One hundred years ago this country was founded. Its founding fathers were coerced into applying a puritanical approach to social and moral issues. It has pervaded every fiber of its cultural fabric. Its interpretation has always followed the extreme in opposition to the spirit of Islam. The hidden perverse underbelly is grosser than any in western society yet these people choose to turn a blind eye to it and deny its existence. In fact, they condemn the west for its pagan vices and extol their own virtuous behavior. Incredibly they say other Muslim countries envy them. Truly they are mocked and despised because of their barbaric and un-Islamic behavior.
Character: If character is adhering to a high sense of personal responsibility; if character is maintaining a strong awareness of individual accountability then this country has no character. Instead of acting with character these people behave out of whim or caprice. The question, “What’s the right thing to do?” - is never the preface of any plan. The purpose behind plan is how I will benefit. Personal gain is the goal of almost every action. When the reward is less than expectation the fault is always found from an external source. Schedules are not established to control the timing of events but imposed to meet an administrative requirement. The only time a schedule is adhered to is when it personally suits someone’s capricious need. Ownership is an ill respected tenant. When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “Tie your camel and trust in Allah.” he knew these people well. From childhood they learn that everything they see and want is theirs for the taking (or borrowing as they put it). If caught they become incensed at the accusation of thievery; they were, after all, just borrowing. In any event they will not be apprehended even if caught. Law enforcement officials operate under the theory it had to be a “foreigner” because their own people are above crime. Rather than incarcerate the perpetrator they will find a “likely suspect” guilty. He will invariably not be a citizen.
They consider academic cheating or plagiarism to be only “helping” a fellow Muslim. If it is helping why do they go to such lengths to be covert about it? They have the expectation that they should not be held accountable for rules and regulations that, if the situation suits them, they view as too restrictive. They do not understand how to wait in line especially if the one in front of them is not of their nationality. At banks, airline ticket offices, airports, train platforms, etc., etc., you will find every one of them jamming to the front. They will move barriers designed for traffic control to get ahead. When held accountable for an infraction of a rule every one else in the group comes to the defense of the brute. An expatriate in this country was struck while repairing a flat tire on his car while a driver slammed into his car parked at the side of the road. Even in the emergency room at the hospital suffering from multiple broken bones and injuries, the police, on behalf of the family of the perpetrator were coercing the injured man to sign a release of responsibility.
Religion: Faith and Practice: Interpretation of Islamic jurisprudence is the most draconian of any Muslim society. Women universally are dehumanized by forcing them to wear a total cover from head to foot of black cloth. They are not permitted identity as human beings, only as a female under a wardship of one male relative or another. This is in diametric opposition to the sprit of Islam that celebrates the elevated status of the woman as mother, wife, professional, student, executive, etc. I once witnessed a bizarre display of animalistic frenzy precipitated by the announcement made at the Holy Mosque in Mecca of a whipping to be administered. People were running headlong pushing, shoving and squeezing to get a better view of an unfortunate man who was to receive an on-the-spot beating for inappropriately touching a female in public. The best attended Friday prayer is one that is to be followed by a public beheading, The people are quick to pronounce that this is “haram; or that is “halal”. But it is never supported by factual knowledge, chapter and verse, of sharia’a. When a verse that contradicts their position is read they state that it is weak, suspended, or misunderstood.
Where the Prophet (pbuh) left a legacy of the best behavior (i.e. cleanliness, manners, modesty, and piety) they universally exhibit the worst behavior (filth, crudeness, brashness, and pride). They feign to know the Prophet (pbuh) but when questioned about him with easily obtained information they are in silent ignorance. They say music is “haram” but listen to it gleefully. They say alcohol is “haram” but run to a neighboring country for it every weekend or enjoy it secretly in their own homes. They say celibacy is obligatory but AIDS is in epidemic numbers. They profess absolute heterosexuality but homosexuality and lesbianism are common. They speak of the equality of Muslims but prefer not to pray where certain racial sub-groups predominate the congregation. Culture: Culturally they are camel-herders with little understanding of or desire to assimilate with humanity. Their greatest tendency for preservation is to abandon their homes in the cities and towns and return to the emptiness and non-threatening dessert. You frequently find a family that has taken their Land Cruiser off the highway in a desolate area and is camped on a sand dune. Their roots are in the barren and sterile waste of the vast sandy interior of this country. Any attempt to get them to appreciate modern, progressive Islamic Society is futile. Stewardship: Major urban and tract planning is undertaken with little or no regard for environmental impact. There is no national awareness of the effects of pollution or litter. The countryside is littered with plastic bags, styrofoam chunks and paper debris. Oil waste and gray water discharges are discarded in open fields. Highways are strewn with blowing trash. Wrappers and garbage are commonly thrown from vehicles. Vermin (cockroaches, rats, etc.,) are ever-present in urban areas throughout the country. Land-fills for construction projects are so poorly planned that years afte the completion of work pumps must be used to dewater streets, intersections and reclamation areas. Natural wildlife habitat is never a consideration, only money.
