Doon Harrow is one of the two main characters in Jeanne DuPrau's Ember books except one, The Prophet of Yonwood.

Background

He was originally assigned the fast-paced messenger job when he was twelve, which he switched with Lina Mayfleet for Pipeworks laborer because he thought he could save the dying city by fixing the Generator, although he later realized it was pointless for him to try because no one knew how it worked. He was a helper in decoding the Instructions for Egress (escape), and was, with Lina and her sister, Poppy, one of the first people to leave. In The People of Sparks, he is a helper of Tick Hassler, who was a worker in Ember. Doon finds out Tick wants war and has done terrible things to the Emberites.
