Joyce Smedley was a fictional Character in the British Soap Opera Coronation Street. Played by Anita Carey. Joyce was Judy Mallett's mother, she arrived in [[Coronation Street in 1996. Joyuce became Cleaner at the Rovers Return and she had a couple of love interests during her time on the street- Alec Gilroy & Percy Sugden, but she didn't encourage the latter!. In February 1997 while walking her dog, Scamper, Joyce during knocked down and killed instantly by a car driven by Tony Horrocks.
