So sinnfrei wie das Titellied war die gesamte Show: Sketche, Nonsens, Gags, Klamauk, Brüste, Sprüche und alberne Lieder reihten sich aneinander, einige davon viele Minuten lang, andere nach einer Zeile vorbei ("Viele Köche verfärben den Brei"), einige gefilmt, andere vor Publikum gespielt. Zum ständigen Ensemble gehörten Wichart von Roëll, Elisabeth Volkmann, Ingrid Steeger und Horst Jüssen. Diese vier waren es auch, die zu Beginn der Show das Publikum mit dem ausschweifenden Hinweis begrüßten, dass sie jetzt wieder wie immer "Guten Abend" sagen, obwohl sie doch wie immer eigentlich gar nicht "Guten Abend" sagen wollen, und das oben zitierte "Klimbim"-Lied sangen. Die Zeile mit dem Schlitz im Kleid gehörte natürlich Ingrid Steeger. Ab Staffel 2 war Helmut Holger dauerhaft dabei, dessen wesentliche Aufgabe darin bestand, zu Beginn der Show stumm vom Barhocker zu fallen, ab Staffel 3 ferner Peer Augustinski. Dieter Augustin und Manfred Jester wirkten nur in der ersten Staffel mit, Franz Muxeneder nur in der zweiten, Klaus Dahlen und Gundolf Willer nur in der fünften. |

Die Show war wie eine Nummernrevue aufgebaut, und das Nummerngirl war natürlich Ingrid Steeger, die ohnehin schon spärlich bekleidet war, für die sich aber in fast jeder Folge ein Anlass fand, die Bluse zu lüpfen. Sexuelle Anspielungen wurden haufenweise gemacht. In jeder Folge gab es etliche Running Gags. Über die Dauer der gesamten Serie beinhaltete jede Folge mehrere Episoden der Klimbim-Familie, einer Art Sitcom in der Show mit völlig überdrehten Charakteren: der militante Opa (von Roëll), der unterdrückte Papa (Augustin), die verwegene Mama Jolanthe (Volkmann), das Horrorkind Gaby (Steeger) und Onkel Poldi (Manfred Jester). Opas schlecht sitzende Glatzenperücke und Tochters auffallend aufgemalte Zahnlücke stellten sicher, dass die lustigen Verkleidungen auch als solche erkannt wurden. |

Nach jeder Staffel gab es bei den Klimbims Veränderungen, denn nach jeder sechsten Folge verschwinden sie auf unterschiedliche Weise. Beim ersten Mal lassen sie sich einfrieren, um im Folgejahr aufgetaut zu werden, Opa stellt jedoch den Wecker auf 1000 Jahre zu spät, wodurch sie erst im Jahr 2975 wieder zu sich kommen. Poldi hat die Zeitreise nicht überlebt, und der Originalvater ist gar nicht erst mitgekommen, weil Mama vorher den impotenten Onkel Poldi (Muxeneder) geheiratet hat. Ein späterer Liebhaber wird Adolar (Jüssen). Zum Ende weiterer Staffeln werden sie in den Weltraum geschossen, flüchten in die Familiengruft und ziehen ins Jahr 4000 und auf den Planeten Yxta, wo Gundolf (Willer) Mamas neuer Liebhaber wird. |

The name ''Saki'' is often thought to be a reference to the cupbearer in the ''[[Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam|Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyam]]'', a poem mentioned disparagingly by the eponymous character in "Reginald on Christmas Presents" and alluded to in a few other stories. It may, however, be a reference to the South American [[Saki monkey|primate of the same name]], "a small, long-tailed monkey from the Western Hemisphere" that is a central character in "The Remoulding of Groby Lington" and that, like Munro himself, hid a vicious streak beneath a gentle exterior. |

Munro was born in Akyab, [[Burma]] (now known as [[Sittwe| Sittwe, Myanmar]]), the son of Charles Augustus Munro, an inspector-general for the Burmese police when that country was still part of the [[British Empire]]. His mother, the former Mary Frances Mercer, died in 1872, killed, essentially, by a runaway cow. It charged at her and the shock caused her to miscarry. She never recovered and soon died<ref>[http://ajlangguth.com/work9.htm]</ref>. It was an incident that may have influenced the sometimes deadly animals of Saki's later stories. He was brought up in [[England]] with his brother and sister by his grandmother and aunts in a straitlaced household whose comic side he appreciated only later in life. Gradually, they realize the futility of their quarrel and become friends to end the family feud. They call out for their men’s assistance, and after a brief period, they make out ten figures approaching over a hill. Begged by their hostess to save "my poor darling Eva – Eva of the golden hair," Lucien demurs on the grounds that he has never even met her. It is only on discovering that Eva is not a flesh and blood daughter, but Mrs Gramplain's painting of the daughter that she wished that she had had and which she has faithfully updated with the passing years, that Lucien declares a willingness to forfeit his life to rescue her, since "death in this case is more beautiful," a sentiment endorsed by the Major. As the two men disappear into the blaze, Mrs Gramplain recollects that she "sent Eva to Exeter to be cleaned." Thus the two men have lost their lives for nothing. Comedyshow von Hans Joachim Hüttenrauch und Michael Pfleghar. "Klimbim ist unser Leben, Klimbim hat montags zu, Klimbim schmeckt nach Vanille und spielt gern Blindekuh. Klimbim ist unser Leben, und ist es mal nicht wahr, dann mach ich mir 'nen Schlitz ins Kleid und find' es wunderbar." So sinnfrei wie das Titellied war die gesamte Show: Sketche, Nonsens, Gags, Klamauk, Brüste, Sprüche und alberne Lieder reihten sich aneinander, einige davon viele Minuten lang, andere nach einer Zeile vorbei ("Viele Köche verfärben den Brei"), einige gefilmt, andere vor Publikum gespielt. Zum ständigen Ensemble gehörten Wichart von Roëll, Elisabeth Volkmann, Ingrid Steeger und Horst Jüssen. Diese vier waren es auch, die zu Beginn der Show das Publikum mit dem ausschweifenden Hinweis begrüßten, dass sie jetzt wieder wie immer "Guten Abend" sagen, obwohl sie doch wie immer eigentlich gar nicht "Guten Abend" sagen wollen, und das oben zitierte "Klimbim"-Lied sangen. Die Zeile mit dem Schlitz im Kleid gehörte natürlich Ingrid Steeger. Ab Staffel 2 war Helmut Holger dauerhaft dabei, dessen wesentliche Aufgabe darin bestand, zu Beginn der Show stumm vom Barhocker zu fallen, ab Staffel 3 ferner Peer Augustinski. Dieter Augustin und Manfred Jester wirkten nur in der ersten Staffel mit, Franz Muxeneder nur in der zweiten, Klaus Dahlen und Gundolf Willer nur in der fünften. Die Show war wie eine Nummernrevue aufgebaut, und das Nummerngirl war natürlich Ingrid Steeger, die ohnehin schon spärlich bekleidet war, für die sich aber in fast jeder Folge ein Anlass fand, die Bluse zu lüpfen. Sexuelle Anspielungen wurden haufenweise gemacht. In jeder Folge gab es etliche Running Gags. Über die Dauer der gesamten Serie beinhaltete jede Folge mehrere Episoden der Klimbim-Familie, einer Art Sitcom in der Show mit völlig überdrehten Charakteren: der militante Opa (von Roëll), der unterdrückte Papa (Augustin), die verwegene Mama Jolanthe (Volkmann), das Horrorkind Gaby (Steeger) und Onkel Poldi (Manfred Jester). Opas schlecht sitzende Glatzenperücke und Tochters auffallend aufgemalte Zahnlücke stellten sicher, dass die lustigen Verkleidungen auch als solche erkannt wurden. Nach jeder Staffel gab es bei den Klimbims Veränderungen, denn nach jeder sechsten Folge verschwinden sie auf unterschiedliche Weise. Beim ersten Mal lassen sie sich einfrieren, um im Folgejahr aufgetaut zu werden, Opa stellt jedoch den Wecker auf 1000 Jahre zu spät, wodurch sie erst im Jahr 2975 wieder zu sich kommen. Poldi hat die Zeitreise nicht überlebt, und der Originalvater ist gar nicht erst mitgekommen, weil Mama vorher den impotenten Onkel Poldi (Muxeneder) geheiratet hat. Ein späterer Liebhaber wird Adolar (Jüssen). Zum Ende weiterer Staffeln werden sie in den Weltraum geschossen, flüchten in die Familiengruft und ziehen ins Jahr 4000 und auf den Planeten Yxta, wo Gundolf (Willer) Mamas neuer Liebhaber wird. Mindestens zwei prominente Gäste waren pro Folge als Spielpartner des Ensembles dabei, darunter deutsche und internationale Stars wie Theo Lingen, Willy Millowitsch, Horst Buchholz, Gilbert Bécaud und Jerry Lewis (der gleich mehrmals mitmachte). Klimbim läutete eine neue Ära der Fernsehcomedy ein. In einer Zeit, als im Vorfeld noch der Hinweis erscheinen musste: "Es darf gelacht werden", löste Regisseur Pfleghar mit seinen frivolen Albernheiten den beabsichtigten Aufschrei aus. Er setzte Maßstäbe, was das Tempo anging, und benutzte schon früh die Bluescreen-Technik, die Darsteller vor gar nicht vorhandene Hintergründe projizierte. Ausgerechnet die Jury des altehrwürdigen Adolf-Grimme-Preises erkannte die Qualitäten und zeichnete Pfleghar mit einem Preis mit Silber aus. Jede Folge dauerte 45 Minuten, jedes Jahr lief eine neue Staffel mit sechs Folgen, die im Abstand mehrerer Wochen dienstags um 20.15 Uhr gesendet wurden. Das Experiment wurde ein großer Erfolg. Aus den Hauptakteuren wurden Stars, deren Klimbim-Klamauk-Image noch Jahrzehnte an ihnen kleben blieb, wogegen einige von ihnen lange Zeit anzukämpfen versuchten. 2004 gaben Jüssen, Volkmann, Steeger, von Roëll und Augustinski auf und gingen mit dem Theaterstück "Die Klimbim-Familie lebt" auf eine zweijährige Bühnentournee.
