Kayleigh called over the fence to David: "What do you think?" He asked: "You make that yourself?" She told him it was for the best guy competition at the fireworks that evening: "Me and Fin want to win. She needs some clothes mind." David frowned: "She? Er, Guy Fawkes was a bloke. The clue is in his name." She retorted: "He might have been a cross dresser." David laughed: "Not in any history lesson I ever went to," and she shrugged: "Well men dressed like women back then anyway." Kayleigh and Finlay returned to finish their guy and, sorting through the clothes they had been given, were delighted to find someone's old wedding dress. They wasted no time in togging their creation up in it and stood back to admire their handiwork. Surely, with such a unique apparel, first prize would be theirs for the taking. Celebrations for the Mortons as Kayleigh and Finlay rushed excitedly back from the guy competition having come first. Kayleigh cried excitedly: "They are going to put our guy on top of the bonfire." Lloyd cheered: "Come on you Mortons!" as Jodie and Jerry hugged the victors. Gail and co arrived and greeted Jerry and family. Jerry told them proudly how Fin and Kayleigh had won the competition with their guy. Jodie beamed: "The judges said it was dazzling and different." David smiled: "Well done. Where is it then?" Jerry pointed and replied: "On top of the bonfire!" The fireworks display was in full swing but the explosions in the air were nothing compared to the one that was brewing at ground level as Sarah demanded to know how her dress ended up on the guy. Kayleigh told her it was in a bag with some other old clothes. Jerry assured her his kids weren't liars and she turned to David, snarling: "You got something to do with this?" Jason swallowed hard and confessed: "It was my fault.... I didn't take it to the cleaners did I?" Kayleigh pitched up complaining that Finlay's eye was hurting. Lloyd had a look and told them it was probably a spark from the fire. Jodie cried: "We're going to have to take him down to Accident and Emergency. Where's me flaming dad?" Lloyd told her: "Oh forget about him, we'll phone him on the way. Come ahead lad!" and led Finlay off towards the car park. |

At the hospital, an indignant Jerry tore into Jodie for not keeping a proper eye on the kids. Jodie snarled: "You were supposed to be in charge but you skulked off to the beer tent." He harrumphed: "For five minutes. What were you two doing?" "Snogging!" sniggered Kayleigh. Jodie raged: "Even when it's officially my night off I am still supposed to be in charge?" Jerry looked set to argue but when Lloyd told him: "It's true Jerry. You do take the mick," he backed down and said he was sorry. |

Template:Coronation Street character Kayleigh Morton, played by Jessica Barden, is a fictional character on the soap opera Coronation Street.
History
Kayleigh arrived on Coronation Street on 18th March 2007 with her dad, grandad and siblings Jodie, Mel and Darryl. Her family were giving their neighbours headaches after just a few hours on the street with their loud music.
Kayleigh and her her granddad, Wilf went to the corner shop and he went in first and paid with a 20 pound note with a blue flower drawn on. Kayleigh went in after and purchased something, paying with a £5 note. She told Dev Alahan that she had paid with a £20 note but he didn't believe her. She described the money and he checked to find that it did have a flower on. He apologised and gave her an additional £15 change. When her dad Jerry found out he wasn't impressed, consequentially taking her phone from her and planning to buy Dev £15 worth of drinks. She would have to work additional shifts in the take away business to repay him for this.
On her first day at Weatherfield High Sophie Webster and Chesney Battersby-Brown told her about the teachers and Sophie told Kayleigh how the teachers would take her rings off of her. Instead of going to school she went home and when Jerry found her he asked why she wasn't at school. An argument ensued and Kayleigh snapped that she wished she could go back and live with her mum.
Realising he couldn't keep her with him against her will, Jerry was forced to agree to Kayleigh's wishes and phoned Teresa. Kayleigh was delighted to be going back to live with her mum but it was clear that Jerry was devastated. Kayleigh left the following day.
A pattern soon emerged of her regular and lengthy visits to her father's house. Jodie noticed how Kayleigh was very quick at eating her breakfast and that she kept requesting money. After several days, Jerry offered to drop her off as he had suspicious the situation wasn't as how Kayleigh was making it out to be like. It turned out that Teresa had gone on holiday and left Kayleigh to look after her six year old half-brother Finlay whilst she was away. As a result of this, she has temporarily moved back into her dad's house with Finlay.
Teresa turned up a few weeks later. Jerry had taken her TV away and several other electrical items. She didn't seem that bothered about her kids and only wanted her TV back. She agreed to let Jerry keep the kids if she could have her telly back. Jerry agreed to this.
Kayleigh was furious when she found out that Jodie had stolen Chesney's dog Schmical. Jodie had been involved in a feud with Chesney's mum Cilla Battersby-Brown for weeks as the Mortons take away business had stolen the chip shops (where Cilla worked) customers. Kayleigh found out and returned the dog to Chesney.
On 3 September 2007, Kayleigh got drunk with her friends. The girls were alone in a house and Jodie was annoyed when Kayliegh phoned asking to be picked up. Jerry was on his date with Eileen Grimshaw and was unable to pick her up. (Jodie couldn't do it as she'd had a drink). Lloyd Mullaney offered to pick kayleigh up in his taxi. When they arrived back, it was revealed that Kayleigh had been sick in the back seat. Jerry was furious when he found out and informed kayleigh that she was grounded.
More recently, Kayleigh acted up when Eileen Grimshaw, Jerry's new girlfriend babysat her while Jodie went out on a date with local cabbie, Lloyd Mullaney. Kayleigh tried to sneak out of the house but was caught. She later lied to Jodie about Eileen hitting her.
Kayleigh called over the fence to David: "What do you think?" He asked: "You make that yourself?"
