Edward Guglielmino

Edward Guglielmino is a musician currently paying rent in Brisbane, Australia but travels so much he could hardly call it home. He is well known through-out the Australian music community for his alternative/experimental style of music and his obsession with celebrity in art reminiscent of Andy Warhol.

Music

Edward is considered an avant garde sonic experimentalist with a sound that falls somewhere between rock, pop, folk and noise. His style often finds common ground with the philosophies of Andy Warhol, Keroac and The Velvet Underground.

Career

In Brisbane, his city of origin, Guglielmino quickly reached cult status, selling out shows and being recognized in the street despite having no support from traditional media. Guglielmino was one of the first musicians to reach cult status using the internet, however unlike many other artists of MySpace fame, he remained independent.

Guglielmino has toured Australia four times and Europe twice. He also composed the soundtrack to three plays: 'Speak Truth To Power' (2004), 'The Ruling Class' (2004) and 'Modlovex' (2005) as well as two short films: 'Giraffe' (2003) and 'Love Coincidence' (2004). Guglielmino has also released three records commericially, however hours and hours of music reportedly adorns his home computer.

“I will not be satisfied until I head up a corporation the size of Sony or EMI that has the advertising dollars and networks and resources to offer the same exposure to genuine art practitioners that are currently being supplied to artists like Madonna or Britney Spears,” Edward Guglielmino

Guglielmino is known for his work in Brisbane band Lost Of Love which he co-fronts and -co-found with James O'Brien of The Boat People. The band were infamously thrown off stage in the Brunswick Street Mall in Fortitude Valley for being too weird in early 2007.

Personal Life

Numerous rumours have circlated about Guglielmino's alleged addiction to methaphitimine. He is also a reported womaniser and has been known to have had relationships with a number of local celebritities. He coined the common phase "A woman drove me to drink, so i drove her home."

Cult Status

After his band was removed from the stage in Brisbane for being too "weird", the terms "googed it" and "goog" were coined around Brisbane. It means to play so badly, that you get thrown off stage.
