The Galloping Gobbler is a National Football League (NFL) award presented by FOX on its Thanksgiving broadcast.

The award itself is a turkey wearing an NFL helmet. Its posture imitates a running motion, carrying an NFL football.

The Galloping Gobbler Winners

Year-by-year the winners of the Galloping Gobbler:

2002

2002: Emmitt Smith, Dallas Cowboys, Running Back

In a holiday rivalry game that featured Steve Spurrier's first Redskins-Cowboys game, Dallas beat Washington 27-20 as the NFL's future all-time rushing champ (and Dancing With the Stars winner) Emmitt Smith led the way by pounding out 144 yards on the ground.

2003

2003: Dré Bly, Detroit Lions, Cornerback

In his first career Thanksgiving game, Lions CB Dré Bly terrorized Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers by picking off two passes and causing a crucial fumble as the Lions beat the heavily-favored Packers 22-14.

2004

2004: Julius Jones, Dallas Cowboys, Running Back

The Chicago Bears fell victim to the 3-7 Cowboys, losing 21-7 in what became then-rookie Julius Jones' coming-out party. After injuries limited Bill Parcells' highly touted draft pick during the season's first half, Jones broke through with his first career 100-yard day — finished with 150 rushing yards in the win.

2005

2005: Michael Vick, Atlanta Falcons, Quarterback

Atlanta's talented quarterback was almost speechless after receiving his Gobbler award following the Falcons' 27-7 win over the Lions. In the game, Vick threw for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns while also running six times for 57 yards.

2006

2006: Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys, Quarterback

Cowboys newly established quarterback sang along to Louis Armstrong's 'What A Wonderful World' while waiting to receive the award. Romo had previously thrown a franchise equalling record of 5 TD's while amassing 306 passing yards as the Cowboys beat Tampa Bay 38-10.
