Emily Jacir is an artist born in Ramallah in 1970. She grew up in Saudi Arabia and attended high school in Italy. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Dallas and her MFA from the Memphis College of Art. Currently, she divides her time between New York and her hometown.
She uses many mediums: photography, video, performance, audio and installation.
On 17 October 2007 she won the 'Leone d'Oro a un artista under 40' - (under 40 artist Golden Lion) - at the 52nd Venice Biennale.
