The Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin is the geographic territory encompssing the former Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin, now the [[Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin.]]

Currently, the diocesean of this diocese is Bishop John-David Schofield, bishop of the [[Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin]], because the Episcopal Church, and more Specifically, Presding Bishop [[Katherine Jefforts Schori]] has not yet declared the episcopate of the diocese to be vacant.

If this happens, a new Diocesan Convention and Standing Committee will be formed by members of the diocese, and an Asssting Bishop appointed to provide Episcopal Pastoral Oversight until the election and consecration of a new bishop.
