Vandalism in Early Life section

Please lock this article from edits from anonymous contributors. They only vandalize the content within this article. Ishmael Rufus 15:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The word 'life' was inserted before the word 'partner'. I'd fix it, but I don't have an account. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.18.180.194 (talk) 02:39, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed, thanks! --TeaDrinker (talk) 02:48, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soulja Boy or Soulja Boy Tell 'Em?

On almost every reference, his name is Soulja Boy Tell 'Em not only Soulja Boy. Should we edit the article? I am. (talk) 05:42, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, on both his official site, Universal site and the Interscope site he is referred to as 'Soulja Boy Tellem.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.111.47.26 (talk) 12:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Same goes for Universal's YouTube. I say change it. 70.21.171.213 23:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I updated it! ≈Alessandro T C 23:41, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add section 4 song meaning

On most single/song pages there is a section explaining the songs meaning. Where is the section in this article. There needs to be one. It is extremely sad that 17 yr old is rapping about b*tches, hoes, and ejaculating semen on a girls back (that is what superman that ho means!); but even more terrible that young kids are singing it and dancing to it like it the Electric Slide! But the worst is that this trash song is on the KidzBop & Now...Music compilations. Nas is right. Hip Hop Is dead ! by 03:49, 16 October 2007 72.66.1.116 (Talk) (7,585 bytes).

I agree this song is disgusting and very disrespectful to women. 71.71.250.195 14:59, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There has to be a reference or some type of validity behind your claim. Please do not attempt to push an agenda. Ishmael Rufus (talk) 17:42, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, why exactly is this page protected?

Uh, why exactly is this page protected? Great so random rap artist pages are protected but subjects like the Israel-Arab conflict aren't. It would appear his manager doesn't want any one editing his page. Isn't Wikipedia great? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.108 (talk) 22:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pages that experience great vandalism are semi-protected so that only established users can edit them. Since most vandalism comes from unregistered users, it automatically stems down most vandalism. Please register so you can make factual edits ♣ChiTownBearsFor Life♣ 04:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at your previous edits, you should know exactly why the page is protected. Hencetalk (talk) 14:00, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Official Site

For a page that's protected from editing, you'd think they would have accurate information. The official site is wrong and it brings me to a stupid site that spells it as "solja" all over the place. Great job, "solja boy" fan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.226.116.32 (talk) 01:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"1.3 Recently" accuracy

Something needs to be done about the posted information given, and although it states Soulja Boy came out with a supposed remix of his popular hit song "Crank Dat", I can' find anything valuable with the posted, also I haven't been able to find that "popular" remix either on my filesharing program. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chalino1 (talkcontribs) 21:17, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about an official remix (one that was created by Soulja Boy), but there is a remix of Crank Dat by Travis Barker. I know this, because I have it. Call it a "rock remix," if you will. Ninety2ina45 13:58, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate Source Citing

The Criticism section cites [9] as the source for

Many other hip hop and music critics dub Soulja Boy the "Nickelback of hip hop".

I don't see mention of this in the article. --Sionide21 (talk) 05:10, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Horrible writing

I'm assuming an "administrator" is allowed to make changes to this page if we can't. However, whoever is in charge cannot write correctly at all. I mean, punctuation, grammar, capitalization rules were all taught in 3rd grade. For this to be a good credible source, at least it should look professional. This refers to the new section added: 1.3 Recently.

Please add

In November 2005 Soulja Boy, along with another rapper "Arab" posts his songs on the music-based social community SoundClick. Following positive reviews on SoundClick, Soulja Boy opens a YouTube account on January 13, 2006 so "... people can put your face to the things you spitting." The following month Soulja expanded onto MySpace to increase his fan base. A year later in March 2007 he would record "Crank That" and release his first independent album Unsigned and Sill Major. On April 11th a low budget video is filmed demonstrating the "Soulja Boy" dance. By the end of May 2007 "Crank That" receives its first air play and Soulja Boy meets with Mr. Collipark to sign a deal with Interscope Records. August 12, 2007, the song appears on the Emmy-award winning HBO series Entourage and by September 1st it has broken into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and tops the Billboard Hot RingMasters chart.[1] --192.193.221.141 15:43, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, if you can find reliable sources for these claims and if they add to the integrity of this article then I will be happy to incorporate them into the article ♣ChiTownBearsFor Life♣ 04:09, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Me too. I've removed them as well. Again, Parralax, post it again (without a real source) and you will be blocked. If you want to remove warnings from your talk page, don't argue that you didn't know. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 22:57, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. Obviously fake. Thanks for the rv. I was approaching 3RR with this character.τßōиЄ2001 22:59, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Put the warnings back on his page as well. Let's hope he stops after the block. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 23:03, 13 October 2007

I apologize that the information i put up was false i thought it was true. I was not trying to vandalize. But i suppose i should of looked at the information closer.Parralax 20:37, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaned up some vandalism

Come on guys, you may hate this "artist" but vandalizing the page hurts us a lot more than it hurts him. Chembro84 (talk) 01:47, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoever locked the page missed an edit

One of the instruments he plays is listed as the "skin flute." I found it amusing in a South Park-ian way but a registered editor should probably remove it. 68.229.184.37 (talk) 07:10, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Thanks, --TeaDrinker (talk) 07:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Crank That (Soulja Boy)

This article should be merged with Crank That (Soulja Boy). This person is not notable enough to have his own article. dearly 16:11, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're joking right? Of course he is notable enough to have his own article.≈Alessandro T C 22:46, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soulja Boy and fake A Bathing Ape clothing

Under "Criticism", there should be something about the criticism he receives for wearing fake BAPE clothing and shoes, despite having a song dedicated to the brand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpraidzzz (talkcontribs) 15:45, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual innuendo critism just rumors and urban legends...

The sexual innuendo's supposedly associated with the song 'Crank Dat' are just rumors and urban legend. Snopes.com has yet to address this, but from the best I can tell these rumors started out on the internet. In the article the editor links to urbandictionary.com as a citation to show that the 'superman' is a sexual maneuver. It may be true that a sexual maneuver is named the 'superman' and is in use as slang but there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that this is what Soulja Boy was referring to in his song. I recommend whoever has the ability to edit this page, which is currently locked, delete that part which is under the heading "controversies." It's simply not true. It is rumor and has become something of an urban legend but not only is there no evidence this is what Soulja Boy meant, common sense and good rap comprehension skills would lead the neutral observer to conclude otherwise. The fact is that Soulja Boy was simply rapping about a dance move - one which he invented.

In the song itself he only says once or twice the words "superman that ho," and notably doesn't say the word 'ho' or any other word that might mean female in most of the occurrences of him talking about performing the action 'superman.' At the beginning of many verses Soulja Boy says the phrase "Soulja Boy off in this ho, watch me crank it watch me roll." In this instance the word "ho" doesn't mean female (or prostitute) either, it is simply him saying that he is here (or rather on this track). In much the same way, when he says "watch me Superman that ho" the word "ho" is not intended to mean a female or a prostitute either. This is a common misunderstand of the slang word "ho" which does not in every slang or ebonics use of the word mean either a female or a prostitute. Often it is just used as a pronoun for any place or object. When he says "superman that ho," Soulja Boy simply means to watch him preform the dance maneuver named the "superman." This usage of the word "ho" can be a significant challenge to explain to persons who haven't heard it used in that formula or that context. I hope I have done this adequately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Streetknowhow (talkcontribs) 10:06, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, all you've done is make a stream of assertions, which may (or may not) be true, and which may (or may not) be relevant to the article. Please provide credible sources and references. 78.86.33.152 (talk) 13:38, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
