How Wood is a railway station in the village of How Wood, Hertfordshire, England.
It is the fourth station on the St Albans Branch Line 7 km (4½ miles) after leaving Watford Junction. Like all the other stations on the branch (except Watford Junction), How Wood is now a simple unstaffed halt. It was opened in October 1988 to coincide with the overhead electrification of the line.
Service
Currently there is a service every 45 minutes in either direction Monday to Saturday, with hourly service on Sundays. The railway takes 16 minutes to travel between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey railway station.
Future
In November 2007 responsibility for the branch line, including Bricket Wood, will passed from Silverlink trains to Govia London Midland trains. Installation of Oyster Card readers on the stations along the branch is a possibility, although there are other ticketing options too.
Restoration of the old passing loop at Bricket Wood is being considered by the local authorities and Network Rail; if implemented, this would facilitate trains running every 30 minutes, instead of the current 45-minute service.
