Welcome!

A few mundane things about me:

geo location: Portugal (EU), overlooking the Atlantic Ocean;
main working field: systems & network administration, telecommunications;
current professional projects: implementing open source operating system: Ubuntu Linux and office suite: OpenOffice in a Salesian school-college (Education):
implemented on Dell PowerEdge servers and Intel P4/Core2Duo clients with the following services:
OpenLDAP LDAP directory services
File sharing through NFS exports
DHCP service
Bind 9 DNS service
Squid proxy service
Shorewall firewall service
PXE installations service
Updates caching service
Moodle e-learning platform through Apache2 web server
Postfix & Dovecot for SMTP/IMAP e-mail service (under configuration)
...
& e-learning collaborative platform Moodle, a free software, acessible to students and teachers through the internal Windows and Linux networks, via IE/Firefox browsers
implemented on a Dell PowerEdge SC1425 running open source Ubuntu Linux 7.04 Server and currently undergoing testing phase with simultaneous formation of participants at the local university
& open source telephone system (PBX software to connect internal analog and digital telephones, through FXS/FXO PCI cards on the server, to PSTN ISDN line & to VoIP ADSL line): Asterisk
under current implementation on a powerful first generation (G1 double processor!) and reliable Compaq ProLiant ML570.
& implementing IP telephony and re-structuring the old internal POTS network (under development);
& preparing a powerful first generation (G1 double processor!) and reliable Compaq ProLiant ML570 (formerly intended to manage connections to PSTN/VoIP services) in order to process data from a local weather station (projected).
