Boondox |
---|
David Hutto is a southern rap artist from Covington, Georgia better known by his stage name Boondox. He is currently signed to Insane Clown Posse's Psychopathic Records label. Boondox is the first rapper on the infamous label not to hail from a city environment - instead, according to label-mate Violent J, Boondox comes from "the crops".
Biography
The Newton County native is easily identified by his distinct look - a flannel shirt, straw hat and sinister face paint. His outfit is reminiscent of a scare-crow. In addition to this, Boondox also sports the Hatchetman pendant typical of all artists on the Psychopathic Records label.
Boondox's debut album, The Harvest, was released on July 11, 2006 through Psychopathic Records and features the Axe Murder Boyz, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, the Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid as guests. With a hype man by his side, and a live drummer behind him, Boondox made his concert debut at the 2006 Gathering of the Juggalos, which consisted of 4 songs, "Out Here", "Diggin' Myself Out", "Seven", and "They Pray with Snakes".
Not long after the Gathering, He accompanied Blaze Ya Dead Homie and the Axe Murder Boyz on "The Tombstone Terror Tour" which was Boondox's first ever tour on Psychopathic Records. Soon after he went back on the road with ICP on their first ever Hallowicked Clown Tour, then got back on the road with the Kottonmouth Kings. Also he announced that another album is in the works. In November 2006, Boondox joined the other members of the Psychopathic Family to record the holiday-themed track, "Hatchet House", which was available for download on ICP's website. This marked his first collaboration with the rest of the family.
On the December 6th version of the Weekly Freekly Weekly it was announced that Boondox had made a new music video for the track 'Red Mist'. It was also announced that he would be hitting the new Psychopathic Records studio, "The Boom Room", in January for his second album, an EP titled "Punkinhed".
The Punkinhed was released on May 1, 2007. The new album has been considered by fans to be an excellent follow-up to The Harvest, which was released less than a year earlier. The album is much darker than the first album, and believed to be one of the darkest albums ever released on Psychopathic Records.
Boondox has stated around the time of Punkinhed's release that a new full-length album entitled Krimson Creek will be coming soon. Boondox stated at his seminar at the 2007 GOTJ that Krimson Creek will be even darker than Punkinhead, as well as more personal.
Since his arrival at Psychopathic, juggalos have debated on whether or not Boondox will replace Anybody Killa as a member of both Dark Lotus and Psychopathic Rydas. In a recent interview with Violent J, he revealed that there will be a new Dark Lotus album in 2008, but it will only include ICP, Twiztid, and Blaze, excluding Boondox as the sixth member. He also revealed that there will be a new Psychopathic Rydas album released at the 2007 Gathering of the Juggalos, and that there will be seven members, leading to the speculation Boondox will fill one of the two open positions.
On July 4th, 2007. Insane Clown Posse stated that after the Gathering of the Juggalos, Boondox declared to go straight to studios to work on a third solo album due to be out early of 2008. On July 13, 2007, it was also revealed Boondox would be a member of Psychopathic Rydas, going by the name Yung Dirt, but he would be the only new edition to the group. True to his Southern roots and the Psychopathic Rydas style, his name is a parody of Dirty South rappers. The group's new album, Duk Da Fuk Down, was released August 13, 2007. A music video promoting the group was released on July 18, 2007.
Boondox was featured on Psychopathics From Outer Space Part 3, featuring 3 new songs, "My Van", "Torn Possession" and "Last Day Alive" alongside of Shaggy 2 Dope and The Monoxide Child. The album was released on November 13, 2007.
Boondox is set to release his third album, Krimson Creek, in early 2008.
