Tito Okello (1914 - June 3 1996) was the leader of Uganda from July 1985 until January 1986. He ruled for six months until he was overthrown by the National Resistance Army operating under the leadership of the current president, Yoweri Museveni.
His son Henry Oryem Okello is the current Minister of State for Education and Sport. His brother, Erisanweri Opira, was abducted from his home in the Kitgum District of northern Uganda by a rebel group, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). His abduction was considered unusual as the LRA usually kidnaps prospective soldiers - Opira is aged in his late seventies.
