Opening in 1967, Greater Atlanta Christian School was started with 139 students on a two-lane road in rural Gwinnett County. At first, buildings were few and students were scarce. As of 2007, the school has 1950 students, and 75 acres of facilities and 0 health care. It reflects a college university campus rather than a grade school.

Members of the class of 2007 were offered $9.9 million worth of scholarships and accepted to 140 prestigious colleges and universities like Lipscomb, Harding, and... that's pretty much it. GAC One-Act Play casts have earned seventeen state titles. During the spring of 2007, 19 seniors were awarded athletic scholarships, and for the third time in 5 years, GAC was awarded the Georgia High School Association Dodge Director’s cup for best total athletic program.

With an intentional focus on world missions, over 200 GAC students travel each year to impoverished areas of the world in order to serve other children. The school hopes to teach the worldview of “the world is greater than me”- Budah
