The Malta Medical Students' Association (MMSA) is one of the oldest student associations found at the University of Malta. All students in the faculty of Medicine and Surgery, including post-graduate students but excluding Pharmacy students, are automatic members of this association.
Aims
MMSA is first and foremost a student representative body, and acts as a liaison between the students and the faculty. It also ensures that the students' education is up to par with international standards, and that the faculty does its best to produce well-trained and holistically professional doctors.
MMSA also aims to disseminate information about improving one's health, raising awareness about health and human rights issues, as well as getting the student body involved in society.
Structure
All students of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, barring Pharmacy Students, are members of MMSA. The MMSA is regulated by an Executive Board composed of 13 members, elected once a year by simple majority elections. The association carries out its work through Standing Committees, following the tried and tested IFMSA Standing Committee structure.
The Annual General Meeting, held once a year in March, is the highest governing body of the association.

Activities
MMSA organises outreaches to increase awareness on Public health and sexual health issues, as well as organising several events throughout the year to coincide with World Diabetes Day, World Aids Day, and Women's Day. It also holds regular evaluations of local medical education practices, and mediates discussions between students and the faculty.
MMSA holds a Training and Resource Development (TRD) seminar every year, to recruit and train new members for its association. This is an annual meeting of about 300 medical students.
MMSA was one of the organisers of the first Joint Healthcare Students Symposium, WorldMaPS together with the Malta Pharmacy Students' Association (MPSA).
Affiliates
MMSA is a full member of both IFMSA and EMSA. It is also a very active contributor to the local KSU and KNZ, the local umbrella student organisations.
