Ill be as bold to say that is absolute nonsense...how would the weisel survive inside the dogs digestive system? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.237.250.191 (talk) 02:55, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Weasel vs Stoat

How do you tell the difference between a weasel and a stoat?

1 the weasel is weasely recognised 2 the stoat is stoataly diferent!

Ok, old joke; but seriously, it won't do Wikipedia's reputation much good to have 2 different animals illustrated with exactly the same picture! They are very similar (to the point that, lacking a scale i don't know if the picture is a stoat or a weasel - but it can't be both!

From the front it is almost impossible to tell a weasel from a stoat. Individuals vary more the species. But from the side or back the stoat as well as being longer has a black tip to its tail summer and winter. I have a stoat living in my garden: I will try to get a proper picture when I get the chance--BozMotalk 10:10, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What would you think if the articles on "Leopard" and "Ocelot" used the same picture, despite 1 being twice the size of the other....?

Well, the stoat/ermine is larger and has a black tail tip.61.230.78.55 08:34, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have studied the stoat family in detail as an amateur naturalist and I can say that it is wrong to classify the stoat and ermine as the same species. Although the Latin name for the stoat includes the word "erminae" I do believe that this was erroneous at the time and the ermine is a separate species, albeit closely related to the stoat. I'm sure there are notes somewhere that back this up but it was a long time ago I did the research and I have moved house since then so when I locate them I will be able to post more reputable sources than my memory.

Rabbit Paralysis?

It might be an idea to include something about Stoat's supposed ability to terrify rabbits into paralysis, assuming this can be verified with a source (either confirming it or debunking it)

Stoats and Humans

Shouldn't this section be somewhat expanded? A discussion of the famous da Vinci painting wouldn't be out of place as well as the story of the Breton duke who following the example from a stoat stopped the flight and faced the enemy... Stoats are not without their special significance to humans... idiotoff 14:15, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

weasels or whatever you may call them

i had a weasel at my home and my dog died because of the nasty creatures! it went into his stomache and was eating him alive. my poor dog had to be in horrible pain but i had to put him down. so if i ever see a weasel or whatever you may call them i will kill it!

You know, the weasel was probably just trying to survive... You're going to hate not only THAT weasel, but ALL weasels, because of that? General Banzai 23:06, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be as bold to say you should have kept a better eye on your dog. This is just as foolish as the Stingray hatred, for Steve Irwin's death. How it got *into* the stomach is just plain odd to me as well. 71.247.174.226 (talk) 13:47, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
