White City is a census-designated place located in Jackson County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,466.
Geography
White City is located at 42°26'0" North, 122°50'2" West (42.433434, -122.833997)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,466 people, 1,761 households, and 1,384 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,140.8/km² (2,956.0/mi²). There are 1,841 housing units at an average density of 384.2/km² (995.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 85.47% White, 0.18% African American, 1.48% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 8.16% from other races, and 4.08% from two or more races. 16.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,761 households out of which 47.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% are married couples living together, 16.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% are non-families. 16.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.09 and the average family size is 3.43.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 34.2% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.1 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $29,342, and the median income for a family is $30,743. Males have a median income of $27,175 versus $20,784 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $11,253. 21.1% of the population and 18.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 26.6% of those under the age of 18 and 13.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
