There is an obvious problem with counting here. Before WW2, ''Germany'' took part in the Olympic Games, after first the ''United Team of Germany'', then both countries as separate teams, then after 1990 again ''Germany''. Now which counts do which of the results from the article include? Is ''East Germany'' (or West-) only the count from Olympics where ''East Germany'' took part, or does it also add in the games where ''Germany'' (and the United team) took part? Not to mention that the ranks given are different to those in the respective articles [[Summer Olympics medal count]] & [[Winter Olympics medal count]]. Germany at the Olympics

There is an obvious problem with counting here. Before WW2, Germany took part in the Olympic Games, after first the United Team of Germany, then both countries as separate teams, then after 1990 again Germany. Now which counts do which of the results from the article include? Is East Germany (or West-) only the count from Olympics where East Germany took part, or does it also add in the games where Germany (and the United team) took part? Not to mention that the ranks given are different to those in the respective articles Summer Olympics medal count & Winter Olympics medal count. Lars T. 17:36, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
