The town was founded around the year 1110 by Otomy people, it was conquered by Aztecas. Spanish arrived here and constructed the convent of San Jerónimo in 1540. In this place Miguel Hidalgo lost the fight with Félix Ma. Calleja, fighting for Mexico’s Independence. |

About Aculco’s economy the principals sectors are: • Agriculture: maize (corn), with 80 % of the cultivable area and in minor percentage there is the bean, oats and vegetables as lettuce, carrots and radishes. And fruits like; pear, apple, plum, small peach, capulín, perón, tejocote, sapota, lemon, lime and orange. • Ranching : production of porcine, bovinely, sheep, caprino and equine. Aculco is famous for its milk and cheese. [2]

With the arrived of Spanish beginning the construction of the church and the convent of San Jeronimo in 1540, whose architecture is a Baroque. In November 1810, arrived in this village Miguel Hidalgo and his contingent, was where he began to shape the course of our country, was also where insurgents, led by Don Miguel Hidalgo, lost a battle by the troops of Felix Ma. Calleja.
