Ognyana Georgiyeva Petrova (née Petkova, Template:Lang-bg, born December 20, 1964 in Svilengrad) is a Bulgarian canoer.

She started her sports career in Plovdiv with “Trakia” Sports Club of canoe-kayak in 1976. She has been a Republican Champion many times over a long period.

From 1981 onward she was included in the National team of Bulgaria. She was in the constant 6-person team at European and World Championships.

Achievements

1981 – European Junior Championships in Sofia:-K2 – 500m - 6th place, K4 – 500m - 6th place.

1982 – World Championships in Beograd:-K2 – 500m - 6th place,K4 – 500m - 6th place,

1983 - World Championships In Tampere- Finland"- K2 – 500m - 4th place,K4 – 500m – 6th place.

1984 – The Boycott of the Olympic Games (Regatta “ Drujba”) Berlin-Germany:-K2–500m -5thplace ,K4 – 500m -5th ,place.

1985 – World Championships in Mehelen - Belgium:- K4 – 500m – 7th place

1986 - – World Championships in Montreal- Canada:-K4 -500m -4th place

1987 -– World Championships in DuisburgGermany

K2 – 500m – 3rd place-bronze medal ,

K4 – 500m – 5th place

Qualified with the cup of Bulgarian Olympic Committee the best kayak woman of the year In 1987.

1988 – the Games of the XXIV Olympiad

K4–500m – 3rd place- bronze medal

1989 - – World Championships in PlovdivBulgaria:-K4 – 7th place

She was nominates as one of the 10 best athletes kayak sprinter-woman of Bulgaria for the 20th century.

She has been awarded by the President of Bulgaria many times.

She is the winner of a medal for Olympic service awarded by the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.

She has been awarded the emblem of Plovdiv by the Mayor of the City of Plovdiv.
