Oulu Airport (IATA: OUL, ICAO: EFOU) is located in Oulunsalo, Finland, about 15 kilometres south-west of Oulu city centre. The airport is the second busiest in Finland after Helsinki-Vantaa airport, as measured by the number of passengers (around 847,946 in 2006) and the amount of freight transported. There are more than a dozen daily flights to Helsinki. Oulu Airport is also extensively used by Finnish Air Forces for training purposes. Recently the old terminal was demolished for more apron space. A major extension of the main terminal (mainly jetbridges) is scheduled for 2009. The managing body of the airport is Finavia.
