It says "When Guile was first introduced to Street Fighter, he was given two moves: the Sonic Boom and the Somersault Kick (unofficially dubbed the Flash Kick by fans), the same two special moves that he has in every game since." That's hardly true. In the SNES and Genesis ports of SFII, you could edit which moves were to be activated, and it clearly said "Flash Kick". I think that the article should say "Somersault Kick (or Flash Kick)" instead. TalonIH 23:19, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
What source is his bio here based on? Tiamat's guide says Guile is in the Air Force, not the Army. Haven't the games always referred to him as being in the Air Force? --Shaolin Samurai 21:06, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, yer right. Whoever wrote this hasn't been doing their homework. Feel free to edit it accordingly. KythringRB 07:38, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
bio
One of the things mentioned in the SNES bio for Guile was that he was in Viet Nam. However, a cursory look at his age indicates this is improbable. Worth mentioning? ... aa:talk 02:50, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- That's Capcom USA info, you might as well just ignore everything they say. Danny Lilithborne 21:33, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Ryu won SF2?
- A source would be nice; till then, it's unofficial and therefore removed. Danny Lilithborne 21:08, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Height/Weight
- I've watched this section of the article fluctuate without explanation long enough. The current stats are the official ones according to Capcom. Don't change them. Danny Lilithborne 19:24, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
"In the Street Fighter movie"
This statement says that in the Street Fighter movie his full name is William F. Guile. However, it does not mention which movie, since there are multiple.
Guile's glitch section
- I think this section should be removed. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, and these bugs are hardly relevant since the original SF2 is over 15 years old at this point. You can find this kind of thing at game-related sites like GameFAQs. Danny Lilithborne 01:11, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- You might leave the "handcups" portion of that at least, as it has become an actual term relating to his gameplay (and to the point where Capcom themselves knocked it in a winquote and in the Street Fighter Movie game). Kung Fu Man 9:35, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- The original Street Fighter II game, not the champion/super editions that followed, was a huge part of my childhood. The glitches were and are still very much part of what I love about the game. I think the glitch section should stay, and hopefully be expanded to include the invisable throw that I was able to do on many occasions, but that I can't find any information on.
- Go to GameFAQs for that. It's not going to come back here. Danny Lilithborne 23:19, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Guile's moves
"Guile's Special Forces style is known for its limited numbers of special moves. When Guile was first introduced to Street Fighter, he was given two moves: the Sonic Boom and the Somersault Kick (or alternately the Flash Kick), the same two special moves that he has in every game since. However, since his introduction, no new special moves were given to him (except in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, as a consequence of that game's unique style of play), a point of criticism from fans of the series, who repeatedly call for either new moves or a conversion to a more common 'command-input style' character."
This is misleading. His air throw (performed by pressing down and either strong or fierce kick while opponent is in the air) should be considered a "special" move since no other playable character is capable of performing anything similar (and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it is listed as a unique move in the SNES manual). Can someone reword this? The idea is still relevant, but it's not entirely accurate, and I'm too lazy to do so.
- Firstly, even if you were right, which you're not (Chun-Li and Vega also have air throws), that's not enough to make it a special move. Capcom of Japan routinely lists special moves in its arcade manuals, and Guile has always had only two special moves. And second, by that logic you'd also have to list every command normal (such as Chun-Li's toe tap or Zangief's stomach crunch) as a special move as well. Brother-in-Law
If two men's wives are sisters, the men are not actually related at all, whereas the Trivia section states that they'd be brothers-in-law. Should be edited. Puff0rx 12:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Note to Jujube
As for taking out the alternate stories section for Guile`s aricle, you`re doing nothing but stupidity! You think that those parts shouldn`t be added? Then why don`t you go to the Ryu(Street Fighter) article and take out the alternate stories sections?Huh? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.5.73.67 (talk) 21:31, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Van Damme as Guile.jpg
Image:Van Damme as Guile.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
