Artificial Human 18 (人造人間18号, Jinzō'ningen Jūhachigō, or Android 18 in the English adaptations) is a fictional character from the Dragon Ball universe created by Akira Toriyama. No. 18 is a mass murderer in Future Trunks' timeline.
Her seiyū is Miki Itō. In the FUNimation dub, she is voiced by Meredith McCoy, and Enuka Okuma in the dub by Ocean Group.
Fictional character biography
A cybernetic human,[2] #18 was modified by Dr. Gero. She is often referred to in the original Japanese as a jinzō-ningen, which literally translates as "artificial human". She is not entirely an android; she refers to both herself and her twin brother as having been "constructed from a human base".[3]
After Cell's defeat
After Cell is defeated, Kuririn uses the Dragon Balls to wish for #17 and #18 to be turned into humans; Shenlong is unable to perform this task because of the unfathomable differences in power between him and the duo,[4] so he wishes instead for their self destruct devices to be removed. Kuririn pursues #18 and, at some point, they marry[1] and have a daughter named Marron.
To clear up the heavily espoused misconception that #18 is a pure android and therefore could not have a child, Kuririn went on to explain to Son Goku during the World Tournament Saga that she was originally human but that Dr. Gero just "remodeled her a little bit."[5]
#18 from Trunk's future
It is important to note that the #18 that married Kuririn and the #18 from Trunk's future are completely different in terms of power and personality. The #18 that was absorbed by Cell was considerably stronger than the one Trunks met on the future to the point he even remarked the he could handle on his own against one of the androids but this #18 was way too powerful. Also their personality where completely different as the #18 from the "present" was more playful and derisive and did not kill unless provoked having as main objective the murder of Goku, while her counterpart of the future was sadistic, cruel and enjoyed to kill people while making them suffer. By the end of the Cell Saga Trunks, having become stronger than the androids, easily dispatched #18 along with #17 putting and end to their killing madness.
