Bawadi is a project announced by the government of the United Arab Emirates (Dubai Holding, through their subsidiary Tatweer) and other investors on the 1st of May 2006. Its aim is to double the amount of rooms in the city of Dubai by 2016 to 29,000 rooms. One of the projects of this investment is the hotel resort Asia-Asia Hotel which will be the largest hotel in the world with more than 6,500 rooms. The development will have hotels along the strip that consist of Asian, Universal, American (countries), Middle Eastern, African, and European themes. Examples include the Wild Wild West Hotel for an American theme.The project costs about 100 Billion Dollars.

Initially planned to double the amount of hotel rooms in the city of Dubai by 2016 to 29,000 rooms, the Bawadi strip has been expanded to over 50 hotels containing 60,000 rooms. Bawadi is set to become the longest hospitality, shopping and entertainment destination in the world.

The centrepiece of Bawadi will be the Asia-Asia Hotel which will be the largest hotel in the world with more than 6,500 rooms.

The development will have a diverse range of hotels along the strip from small intimate boutique hotels, to mega themed resorts and destinations with themes that include the Ottoman Empire, The Palaces Hotel & Resort, The Americas Hotel & Resort, Fashion Hotel, Al Magreb Resort & Spa, Extreme Sports Hotel Extreme Hotel

Forming the centrepiece of the strip with AsiaAsia will be The HollyBolly Hotel & Resort The HollyBolly, this unique fusion of East and West will provide vistors to the strip with a mind blowing sensory experience. This $1 Billion dollar, destination resort contains 1500 rooms, theatres, cinemas, waterfront restaurants, boutique retail outlets and entertainment for the whole family. The HollyBolly will become the epicentre of the Hollywood and Bollywood showbusiness world's within the middle east hosting Premiere's, Film Festivals and much, much more.

The entire Bawadi project will cost about 200 Billion US Dollars and will contain a great deal more than just a collection of hotels.

Retail - Bawadi will contain over 40 Million sq ft of shoppping expereinces all interconnected along a 10km boulevard

Entertainment - Museums, Concert halls, theatres and indoor/outdoor sporting facilities will provide 24/7 entertainment for the entire family

Convention - Bawadi will be the regions leading convention destination with standalone and integrated convention and exhibition spaces
