Template:Infobox ArthurTVCharacter Arthur is the title character of the PBS children's television series Arthur which was created by Marc Brown. On the show, he is eight years old in third grade, and lives in Elwood City.

Arthur's appearance

Arthur is an eight-year-old aardvark recognizable by the trademark bright, yellow sweater, bright blue jeans, big glasses, and red and white sneakers that he wears in most episodes. When he goes to bed, he wears blue pajamas, although he occasionally wears a blue T-shirt with blue shorts. Occasionally on formal events, he can be seen wearing a suit featuring a blue coat, white shirt, blue slacks, brown shoes, and a red bow tie. On some occasions, Arthur wore a yellow and orange t-shirt with his trademark jeans, but he wore them together on summer days.

Arthur's relationships

Family

Arthur is constantly pestered by his four-year old sister D.W. Read, which stands for Dora Winifred. Much of the time, D.W. tries to get Arthur into trouble. For instance, in the episode "Flaw and Order", D.W. videotaped Arthur and Buster while they were playing catch. At the same time, a glass tray could be heard breaking making it appear as if they were the culprits.

Arthur's parents are his mother Jane, who works as an accountant and his father David Read, who runs a catering business. He also has a baby sister named Kate and a dog named Pal. Appearances from Arthur's extended family include Grandma Thora, Grandpa Dave, Uncle Fred, Uncle Richard (Dave's father), Aunt Jessica, Aunt Loretta, Aunt Lucy, Great-Grandma (Thora's mother) and his cousins Cora, Monique, Ricky, and other unnamed relatives.

Friends

Buster Baxter ( a rabbit) is known for telling jokes and eating, and is Arthur's best friend. Arthur's other friends include Francine Frensky (a monkey), who is quite bossy and enjoys sports; Mary Alice "Muffy" Crosswire (a monkey as well), a rich and rather stuffy girl who loves fashion; Alan "The Brain" Powers (a bear), a very intelligent boy, hence his nickname; Sue Ellen Armstrong (a cat), a friendly girl who has lived abroad and practices martial arts; Fern Walters (a dog), a quiet girl who loves reading, especially mysteries and poems, and also loves to write poetry. George Nordgren (a moose), a timid, shy, dyslexic boy who daydreams regularly and also has a puppet named Wally that he sometimes talks to; and Binky Barnes, a bulldog whose personality varies from episode to episode (throughout the first seasons he was viewed as a bully, but later on he was viewed as a good person with a heart of gold).
