English rock band Queen + Paul Rodgers's as yet untitled first studio album (Queen's 16th) has a tentative release date of Summer 2008. It is the first to be recorded with former Free and Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers under the moniker of Queen + Paul Rodgers.
History
According to Paul Rodgers, the band have recorded nine songs for the upcoming album. The band are estimated to have been working on it for the last year, with all members writing their own songs, as well as each of them taking turns playing bass, after the retirement of bassist John Deacon. When "Bohemian Rhapsody" was revealed as Radio 1’s most played song ever at the end of JK and Joel’s last chart show before leaving, Roger Taylor told them via a phonelink to the studio that the band are currently halfway through the new album. It will be released sometime in 2008, with a tour to follow. Taylor also mentioned that all three members would be singing on it as opposed to just Paul Rodgers singing as the lead singer for the whole duration of the album. On the 12th of February, Paul Rodgers stated in an interview with Tommy and The Bartender that he would be returning to the studio in march to record. He said they have about 14 tracks down and may even put more, aswell as saying they hoped to release it in the summer, and with a tour to follow sometime in autumn.
Tracks
Currently there are no tracks confirmed for the new album, but one new song entitled "Take Love" was played on the North American leg of their tour in 2006. But according to Paul Rodgers in a recent interview with Billboard magazine, he mentioned that the song is yet to be recorded, and therefore may not make the final cut of the album. Rodgers also debuted a new song on his last tour of the UK in 2006 entitled "Warboys (A Prayer for Peace)." This song made an appearance on his 2006 release Live In Glasgow CD/DVD. This track is also a possible track for the album but remains unconfirmed. Queen have also recorded a handful of tracks for the 46664 campaign. These may also see the light of day with this release as Brian May hinted on his website after a letter was received asking about the possibility of releasing the track 46664 The Call as a download single. On November 29, 2007, May confirmed that "Say It's Not True," another Queen track for 46664 penned by Roger Taylor, would be released as a free download-only single.
