China Today (Chinese: 今日中国), formerly entitled China Reconstructs (中国建设), is a magazine founded in 1949 by Soong Ching-ling in association with Israel Epstein. It is published in Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and German, and is intended to promote a positive view of the People's Republic of China and its government to people outside of China. Foreign advisor and naturalized Chinese citizen Israel Epstein was editor-in-chief of China Today from 1951, when he returned to China at the request of Soong Ching-ling, to his retirement at age 70 (1985); he remained editor emeritus until his death in 2005.
