"and lost her virginity at age 15." Is this true or even necessary? It seems highly personal information to be included on a biography. 86.136.109.255 22:48, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

I think it's a misinterpretation of online information, which reads: "MOUTH TO MOUTH (102 Minutes)... Sherry (Ellen Page- Hard Candy, X Men 3) is a 15 year old punk kid in London... She loses her virginity, and her illusions as well as she gets drawn in and discovers too late that S.P.A.R.K. is actually very cult-like." gssq 18:16, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

: I know we're meant to assume good faith, but it's probably just vandalism; someone who wants to shock by adding sexual content (esp as she must have lots of rather young fans). the best thing to do it just keep reverting when you spot it. Amo 19:26, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Also - about the 15 thing, she did that movie when she was 17 - Yohowithrum

I removed a claim that Ellen Page was romantically linked with Michael Hampson; Google shows no appearance of their names together save in the Wikipedia article and Michael Hampson was created today as a page full of nonsense ("His hobbies include licking stamps and going comando in his jeans.") -- Antaeus Feldspar 02:48, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More Biographical information?

Anyone have more biographical information, regarding her religion, ethnicity, family background, parents? It seems that she's playing a Jewish character in her next film, but not sure about this. Smeelgova 20:37, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's a samattering more info, but nothing significant in the categories you've mentioned. Shadowcat is indeed jewish, but i've seen no suggestion that page is. Amo 20:41, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
She went to Shambala School in Halifax, which tends to have mostly Bhuddist ties. 24.222.118.208 19:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why was my edit marked as vandalism, if I removed an out-right lie. Someone who was only identified by an IP number said that Page was an out lesbian and used her interview with David Letterman as a source. I watched the video and nothing like that was even mentioned. I'm disappointed at being associated with "vandalism." A29105 —Preceding comment was added at 03:15, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

appearance helping career

"Her attractive appearence helped her further in her career." I don't think this is relevant. A lot of actors are attractive, and undoubtedly it helps, but to my knowledge Page is not reknowned for playing inherantly attractive characters. Lots of people on messageboards say she's unnaturally young-looking, unnatractively androgynous etc, so i don't think her looks are really noteworthy unless she makes it to a "most beautiful" poll or something. Amo 20:27, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to keep removing things like "She is currently regarded as one of the most attractive actresses" until someone can provide a source that this a widespread opinion. Amo 15:04, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I personally think she is gorgeous, but Amo is right. Most actors are attractive (it's sort of a job requirement). And I really dislike whoever says she's "unattractively androgynous", but I guess I'm just a guy with a crush... Either way, you're right. 89.138.31.157 21:27, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
how can she be "unattractively androgynous"? it's a ridicolous assumption made probably by persons that do not have a straight sexual orientation, and it is not a widespread opinion.("lots of people on messageboards"). I really can't distinguish the androgynous traits. 89.32.1.82 19:09, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Um, i'm not entirely sure what you mean User:89.32.1.82, but all i was commenting on was a lot of people saying that she looked like a little boy, and suggesting that that was an inherantly bad thing. Amo 16:32, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad someone removed the comment about her looks backed up by the IMDB messageboards as a source, because Wikipedia:Reliable sources states that "Posts to bulletin boards...are never acceptable as primary or secondary sources." Just to clear that up. Amo 16:50, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

u can't refer to a minority as "a lot of people". it's the first time i hear the term "androgynous" associated with her. it's completely absurd. she is absolutely gorgeous and i don't think looking young is inherently bad. in addition, how can one look "unnaturally young"? 84.234.110.198 11:33, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, i'm not out to bash Ellen; if i weren't a fan i probably wouldn't be looking out for article. personally i find it offensive that you think androngyny and "gorgeous" are mutually exclusive. I only mentioned that i have seen on the internet and heard in personal discussion the opinions that a) she looks young for her age b) that that is a bad thing c) she looks boyish (this has also been written about in interviews) d) that that is a bad thing. The purpose of this was to prove what a moot point it is to have any critique of her looks, especially one which is not a notably entrenched view. Amo 17:02, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought I'd stick my oar in long after everything's died down on here, but she's only being referred to as androgynous and boyish because she has her hair cut short for her role in Hard Candy. Her features are obviously feminine: thick lips, big eyes, small nose, need I go on? It's make-up for a role, you can't judge her on that basis and on the basis of imdb message boards. Also User:89.32.1.82 was saying how offensive it was to link androgyny and unnatractiveness, as Amo had done. Driller thriller 13:24, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The only reason her hair is so short in Hard Candy is because not long before that she'd finished filming 'Mouth To Mouth', where she'd had to shave her hair completely off.NinjaJew 17:09, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

There is no photo of Ellen on her wikipedia page, she has various fan sights with photos of her (not photos of her characters in movies / tv) are these acceptable sources for a photo to upload to wikipedia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.55.213.190 (talk) 16:52, 21 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I'm gonna use the existing photo of her as Kitty Pryde in X-men, if that's ok with all? MHDIV ɪŋglɪʃnɜː(r)d(Suggestion?|wanna chat?) 17:59, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! just saw the note left there. Is it really a screenshot, it looks more like a promo-shot IMHOMHDIV ɪŋglɪʃnɜː(r)d(Suggestion?|wanna chat?) 18:06, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fair Use images shouldn't be used for living people, as it is possible for a free use image to be taken and uploaded.
As for the original comment, just because pictures have been taken doesn't mean we can just grab them and upload them. However, if one of those fans wants to upload their photo and give it a Wikipedia-compatible license, that'd be great. EVula // talk // // 18:08, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, upon reviewing the article, a picture of her as Kitty could be put in the Filmography section, as it would illustrate a character she has played. Fair Use images just can't be used to show the actor. EVula // talk // // 18:10, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awards

If you're going to add her Academy Award nominations to her filmography, you might as well add notes on other awards/nominations she's won, as well. Twinchester 18:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I personally don't think the awards that she won or were nominated for should be mentioned in her filmography table. For one thing it's already mentioned in the Awards section and the notes in the filmography table should be about the movie itself. Ospinad (talk) 20:04, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sexuality

Does anyone know her sexual orientation, because I have read a lot of posts that say she's a lesbian, and open about it.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.224.96.226 (talkcontribs) 17:06, February 29, 2008

 • There's a lot of talk about it, but a quick look through the few pages of links brought up by Google doesn't reveal anything that's usable. She has a strong lesbian following and there are numerous reports (such as this one) where people say that Ellen set off their gaydar. Tabercil (talk) 00:23, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the myspace under sexual orientation is set to straight.

quotes ection

These 2 quotes seem to be there soley to make her look like a lesbian...should we add in more, or delete the section. I dont think its serving much purpose then to defame her at the moment. -Hewhoistoolazytologin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.141.224.146 (talk) 23:56, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the quotes section. -Duribald (talk) 00:58, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge "Personal life" and "Early life"?

Into simply "Personal life". As it is, "Personal life" is only two sentences long. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 10:13, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Though I believe you have a good idea and give good reason, the edit history shows that those sections have really only existed as such, since February 15 (or so). I would be more inclined to simply camp on that for awhile, just to see if those sections have a chance to evolve independently. WikHead (talk) 12:11, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
