Tynong is a town in West Gippsland, Victoria, Australia located in the Shire of Cardinia. The name comes from an Australian Aboriginal phrase meaning "many fish". At the 2006 census, Tynong had a population of 326.^[1]

Places of interest include Gumbuya Park, Mill Valley Ranch and Tynong railway station.

Notable for the granodiorite quarried from the township for the construction of the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance, picture below were take in the late 70's by a local resident.
