- January 8 - The U.S. Postal service issues an Elvis Presley stamp. The design was voted on in February of 1992.
- January 12 - Cream reunites for a performance at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Other inductees include Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ruth Brown, The Doors, Van Morrison, and Sly & The Family Stone.

- April 16 - Paul McCartney headlines a concert at the Hollywood Bowl to celebrate "Earth Day". Other performers included Ringo Starr, Steve Miller and Don Henley
- April 20 - Aerosmith releases their massively successful album Get a Grip, which becomes their first album to debut at #1, sells 7 million copies in a 2-year timespan in the United States alone, sells 20 million copies worldwide, and wins the band two Grammy awards
- Shania Twain is ready to enter the Music Industry as she signs her first record contract to Mercury Records and realeses her 1993 self titled debut album Shania Twain
- April 21 - Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman marries Suzanne Accosta
- April 17 - The Bangles' Susanna Hoffs marries screenwriter Jay Roach in Los Angeles, California
- April 24 - Willie Nelson, John Cougar Mellencamp, Neil Young and more than 30 other artists perform at Farm Aid 6 in Ames, Iowa
- April 29 - An animated version of Barry White appears on an episode of The Simpsons.
- May 18 - Moldovan-American singer Svetlana, releases her debut album. In that day of the release, Svetlana turned 13 years old.
- May 31 - Oasis plays at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow supporting 18 Wheeler. They were spotted by Creation Records boss Alan McGGee who was among the audience and offered them their first contract after the show.
- June 7 - Prince announces that he is changing his name to an unpronounceable symbol.
- June 21 - Jamiroquai's debut album Emergency on Planet Earth goes straight to number one in the UK, and stays there for four weeks.
- July 9 - The Velvet Underground follow up a headlining reunion tour of Europe with an opening slot ahead of U2 in Naples. Tensions in the band lead to a breakup soon after; this turns out to be their final show.[1]
- July - European singers Björk and Svetlana, join together for the "From Iceland To Moldova Tour". Both girls toured to the United States, UK, France, Japan, etc. It was one of the most seen tours back in 1993.
- July 17 - SWV's single Weak peaked at #1 in the U.S. Billboard charts. It lasted 7 weeks on the chart.
- August 10 - Mayhem guitarist Euronymous is stabbed to death by Count Grishnackh in Oslo, Norway, causing the temporary end of Mayhem.
- August 10 - Billy Joel releases River of Dreams his final pop/rock studio album to date.
- August 28 - Bruce Dickinson plays his final show with Iron Maiden (until his return in 1999). The show was broadcast on British television, and later released on VHS and dvd.
- September 21 - Nirvana's final studio album, In Utero, is released
- September - Ace of Base releases their huge record breaking debut album The Sign, also known as Happy Nation, and Happy Nation U.S Version. The Sign went on to sell 23 million copies worldwide, including 10 million in the United States.
- October 17 - Savatage guitarist and co-founder Christopher Michael "Criss" Oliva killed in a car accident by a seven-time drunk driver.
- November - A new opera house opens in Helsinki, Finland
- November 19 - Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder is arrested in New Orleans on charges of public drunkenness after a bar room brawl.
- December 4 - Frank Zappa dies of prostate cancer.
- The Pro Art Symphony Orchestra is founded in San Francisco.
- Michael Jackson denies child molestation charges in a four minute statement that is broadcast live on television.
- Garth Brooks releases his "In Pieces" album, despite being heavily pop oriented it surprisingly gets rave reviews from the country music industry and goes on to become his fourth chart-topping album.
- Natalie Merchant leaves 10,000 Maniacs after being in the band for twelve years.
- New Order break up whilst on the tour for their album Republic, and apparently do not speak to each other for another 5 years.
