Summary of Video games WikiProject open tasks:

Merging

What's happened to all the information? Now I don't know what characters each game has? Is soneone going to sort this out?

We're merging the articles because of all the lists (for the most part). Having an article with long lists of stages, characters, etc. doesn't make for a good article, only stubs. Still, I have an idea on how to get around it, though I don't know if it'll stick. Let's wait for all the merging to be done before worrying about the characters. // DecaimientoPoético 22:30, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you plan on listing characters, might I suggest something like this? Since appearing in one game pretty much insures a character will appear in all later installments, the format should need little to no tweaking with each new game. ~SnapperTo 03:50, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what if the boxart comes out for naruto ultimate ninja 3Kyuubi29 02:36, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're worried about box art? Let's take it one step at a time, okay? First the merging, then possibly the infoboxes, and then we can worry about the box art. Sound good? ^^ // DecaimientoPoético 03:16, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

a simple suggestion

Make it like the dragonball z video games article.

Um, which one? List of Dragon Ball video games? That won't work, since this page is dedicated to the gameplay/reception/etc. of the Ultimate Ninja series and not a list of all Naruto games. If you're talking about a different aricle, excuse me for misunderstanding your suggestion; you weren't very clear on it. // DecaimientoPoético 18:31, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How can Butterfly Choji be a seperate character in naruto narutimate hero 3 the only way you can play as him without using choji is typing a cheat.

Change back

Ok, i and most of the people here are sick and tired of this page looking the way it does, it provides little information on the game, and as many people said before it looks like poop, and that nice way of putting it, and we don't care for wiki rules, we are not on here wasting our time reading ok RULE 06842, make everything look like crap, sorry, but i vote that the page(s) be put back to their orignal forms.

Think of it this way: Would you rather have six stubs (all with nothing but maybe two sentences, character lists, and stage lists), or one page covering all the same information as the stubs (save the stage lists) and eventually cover development, gameplay, and reception information?
We obviously can't satisfy everyone at one time. Someone's always going to have a problem with the choices we make (the established users being against the stubs, while the IPs and new users being against the merging). If you really have such a problem with this, please come up with an actual reason as to why we should revert it back to its original state (By the way, complaining about box art or other trivial things like stage lists is not enough to get the pages back). // DecaimientoPoético 01:34, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright i know that but this dosn't give us much information as separte articles, it just provide the same information but with the articles separte users can find what they want much faster and what they want to know without going to read every certain summary, that why i suggest we turn it back just because user don't want to serach for something without going through every little detail, and i don't care for boxart or stages but i just want what in that game on the page not what characters were in naruto 2 without going into seeing 3 that can contain spoliers to some. Thank you
Wikipedia is always going to contain spoilers; see WP:SPOILER. Anyway, like I said above, we can't satisfy everyone. Also, you don't need to read every last description to find a specific game; that's what the individual headers are for.
The only real difference between the separate articles and this one would be the infoboxes (though most the information from those have been incorperated into this page) and the external link sections. I don't quite understand what you're talking about when you say people can get the info faster with separate articles. After saying that, I think I covered pretty much everything you pointed out. // DecaimientoPoético 16:43, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah i guest so, it does seem better a little, and as you have said no one will ever be sastified, i guest it ok, and not like it much harder so find articles.

This page is god awful.

So make it better. I suggest putting in a small infobox for each game containing release info and boxart. Having all the releases in a paragraph is sloppy and boxarts are needed for standard clarification. - The Norse 02:29, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken the liberty of adding this information to Ultimate Ninja 1 and 2. I don't see the point in adding it to any of the other games until more information is added on them. The box for 3 and Accel is there and ready to be used in case enough information is added on these games in the future. I hope this adds to the viewer experience of this page. Mushrambo 01:29, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We don't need huge infoboxes and images taking up the screen, especially since when we get the information we need, we're dropping the current format and posting development/gameplay/receptions instead (see Final Fantasy (series) as an example). // DecaimientoPoético 01:39, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly I think it's better with the infoboxes, especially since there's only a handful of games in the series (where as Final Fantasy has substantially more). Plus the Final Fantasy games each have their own articles, which in turn have their own infoboxes. As The Norse pointed out, it adds to the clarification. Maybe we could come to some sort of compromise? How about this: No infoboxes, but at least have the box art next to the description of the game. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Mushrambo 04:00, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The main reason infoboxes shouldn't be used at this point is because of the lack of information for each game. When you have only a handful of sentences and add an infobox to the mix, it leaves tremendous white spaces which become even larger on computers with smaller font or pixel sizes (I'm not entirely sure whay it has to do with).
Also, I was using the Final Fantasy series page linked above as an example of what might happen to this one if and when we get the information we need (development notes, gameplay information, critical reception, etc). The reason the Final Fantasy articles have both series pages and separate gaming articles is due to the fact that the games themselves actually have something to write about whereas all we have for the Naruto articles is a list or two, maybe two to four sentences overall, and infoboxes. // DecaimientoPoético 14:33, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I completely understand that. There really isn't enough information for their own infoboxes. However I stand on the fact that we should at least have boxart (which would be substantially smaller than an infobox and leave less white space). That way people get a feel for what the game holds (A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say) and it also adds clarity to what the games look like, with the english ones especially. I know people who would grab the first game they saw with the words "Ultimate Ninja" in the name and completely disregard which one it was and therefore get the wrong one. I also know a lot of them check the wiki pages for them beforehand so they know that they're getting a game they would like (I know I did the same thing with the Kingdom Heart's series). The boxart can actually help in getting the right game when the time comes to purchase it. Now I'm hoping I haven't left you off somewhere at the beginning of all this, but that's my proposition. Just a thumbnail of the boxart is all I ask. Right next to the game description. Still sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Mushrambo 01:39, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Calm Down

can you people please calm down and give them more time. you need to have some important things for them to change it back. saying that it is sloppy and you dont like it wont get them to change it back. Kyuubi29 12:29, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

why did you change it anyway

Why in the world ?

It would be wise to separate the articles because of the differences, and the whole point of creating these pages is to be viewed by users who look for this kind of detailed info. Otherwise the creation of this page would be basically pointless and it would be wise to put the boxart in them and show these differences no matter how little it may seem. It should show differences in gameplay features that were not in past versions or what was possibly excluded from current versions or do further research to find some more nformation.

It would not be hard to note or show references to game reviews as well bring back facts that previously showed such as release dates. It would make sense to show these things since there so many video game pages that have them no matter how different or similar the video game sequels are and singling out this page is rediculous in my opinion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.145.229.171 (talkcontribs) 15:21, 18 July, 2007.

The lack of information on any of these games makes them all nothing but stubs on their own. It's been said several times: what is better? Several stubs that don't accomplish much or one page that covers everything effectively? Now I admit this page is still in the works, but give it time and it will be better than the stubs previously in existence. Now I do agree with the boxart part (see above) but other than that I think this article serves the wiki community much better than the separate stubs did. If you really want to make the article better, create an account and start doing it. Best way to make the improvements you think are necessary on Wikipedia. Mushrambo 01:49, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This merger was downright terrible. Games are supposed to get their own articles, that's why there are templates for game articles. This is the first case I've seen where a series of games has been condensed into a single uninformative article. At least the release and information templates on the individual articles were useful, this article is just a pure waste of space. What is with the recent obsession people have with making wikipedia as uninformative as possible? Is it just me? Oh, and you should have tried working on the merged page seperately, instead of just doing it. I came here looking for information that is now nowhere to be found, so good job with that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WtW-Suzaku (talkcontribs) 15:31, 24 July, 2007.

A game does not deserve an article without having more information than just character lists, a sentence or two, and an infobox; templates have nothing to do with the fact. Also, what information are you searching for? We merged every last bit of content into this article from the separate stubs (besides stage lists, external links, and a few misc. things from the infoboxes), so you shouldn't be complaining.
As a final note, nothing is stopping you from adding content yourself. This is Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Be bold, and do something about your complaints. // DecaimientoPoético 15:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I still have one problem with this article. There was no consensus to making this article. It just happened. Wikipedia policy wasn't followed, the articles were just merged. Personally I believe each article had the potential to become better with more information. I think if they were tagged for lack of information then people could have taken action and made them better, but instead they were merged. No proposal was made or anything, therefore Wikipedia guidelines were not followed. I think either more information should be put in from the original articles or it be put up to a vote. Mushrambo 01:17, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't consensus? It certaintly is. And in any case, consensus is not required for everything - editors can be bold in what they do - and there has been general agreement. The opinions of the anons who are screaming I don't like it are irrelevant. What did you expect us to do? Propose it at WP:VPR? Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy. We are not required to send something as minor as this to there. In any case, the available content for the individual game articles (especially the Japanese-only ones) was heavily scarce, and it is preferable that they are combined, where more substantial information can be added, and the series can be addressed in a cohesive fashion. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 01:27, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(Edit conflict) The merging was discussed, and ended in favour of the series pages. And the articles were tagged; they all had stub tags at the bottom, which automatically added them to the appropriate categories (each stub template has its own category, ie: {{fighting-videogame-stub}} adds a game to Category:Fighting game stubs). Please look deeper into these kinds of things before making blind claims. // DecaimientoPoético 01:29, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't a blind claim. Nether Ultimate Ninja nor Ultimate Ninja 2 were tagged, therefore they weren't considered stubs at the time of the merger. Narutimate Hero 3 and the japan-only games were all stubs due to lack of information in the states, I get that. But if the Ultimate Ninja and Ultimate Ninja 2 pages had been tagged as stubs then people could have added to them. Now to me, this page seems kind of cluttered. The original pages weren't (although they did lack information). And as for the discussion, not everyone checks the "List of Naruto games" talk page. What they would check, however, is the talk page for the relevant game that they want information on. If a merger proposal had been made on each of the pages to be merged that linked to that part of the talk page then I would say it was taken care of a lot better. Honestly I'm not arguing with the pages creation, I'm just thinking that it could have been handled better while making people happier about the merge (maybe even the anons who are too lazy to register XD) but anyway that's all I'm trying to say. This article does have the potential to be better than the other articles, I just don't see it as being there quite yet. As soon as I think of a really good way to make it spectacular I'll see what I can do but until then I find this article informative while appearing slightly cluttered. Mushrambo 20:25, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're missing the point that even if that had been done, the only opinions that any opposing sides have brought up are I don't like it and deploring the loss of stages and other game guide-ish information that is not appropiate. Editors made a decision to be bold and merge the articles. I have not yet seen a good argument for separating these articles yet. As for what this article could become, see Naruto: Clash of Ninja (series) for the work being done there. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 22:40, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And you're still missing the point that if at least Ultimate Ninja and Ultimate Ninja 2 had been appropriately tagged there may not have even been the need for a merge where those two articles no longer existed. Maybe a few sentences on the new page with a "Main Article" tag under their section. If it had been proposed that those two articles be merged rather than it just happening then we might have two well developed Naruto game articles and this page for the games where information is scarce. And I also stated that I have no issues with this article besides its cluttered feel. I don't care if the articles are split up or not. And I understand the whole be bold thing, but I also feel that at least Ultimate Ninja should have had a chance to be expanded before being merged. But what's done is done, right? Now I honestly think that with the right touches, the Ultimate Ninja page can be as good as the Clash of Ninja page (if not better). Now for the sake of ending this argument of misunderstandings once and for all, I am going to see if I can find any fair-use screen shots from any of the games. It's all unsourced. I would have removed it immidiately, but for one reason or another decided not to. It has to be fixed, however, and all quotes, pros/cons, and pretty much every other sentence in the paragraph needs to be cited. // DecaimientoPoético 01:48, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, I do not know how to source/cite... If it's of any at all help, I went from metacritic to the other sites and checked the reviews there... Umm, can anyone souce for me, plz? 81.224.28.54 20:39, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try to look for the sites on my own then. It would help if you could post some links to the sites you found the information on, though, and I can just apply those to the article. // DecaimientoPoético 20:59, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is about verifiability, not truth. If I can find a few other sources (other than fan sites) talking about Accel 2, I'll see what I can do about including it. // DecaimientoPoético 20:59, 30 August 2007 (UTC) I added the game in an "Other games" section, using the cryptic message as a source. When the game is announced, it will be moved where appropriate (either the PS2 and a new PS3 section) and whatever information is released will be added. // DecaimientoPoético 21:37, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if this is vandalism, a mistake, or an error with the site, but the URL in the reference says "Naruto-ad" while the image shows something completely different. It HAS a list with the English game's character's list... The Japanese and English games share the same bracket mister, and unless a character is stated as excluded from the English version, like Dotou, it'll be featured in the English version (this is, of course, provided the fact that we have information about the alternate version). 81.228.148.16 (talk) 22:49, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing the character list

The list of playable characters for the Narutimate Hero/Accel series keeps changing. I like how it is more organized now (as opposed to a few days ago), but characters keep becoming available in the Accel 2 (or not, in some cases). Byakugan Hinata and ANBU Kakashi were both taken off the list as playable Accel 2 characters recently. Also, the Four-Tailed TS Naruto was put down as a playable character, when he has not been confirmed. Two-Tailed TS Naruto has been confirmed, however, and I'm pretty sure that form will replace One-Tailed TS Naruto. I'm still fairly new to the wikipedia, so I don't exactly know how to update it and give a source (linking to the reference at the bottom), but the picture is clearly shown on the Bandai website (under characters, first page, first character) with Naruto doing a ougi attack on Sasuke, and it ending with him as a Two-Tailed Kyuubi. But as I said, Four-Tailed Naruto isn't confirmed (yet, hopefully). I can't really think of any other gripes about the character list, though. Akatsuki.sousui 08:49, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody keeps editing the list and taking Four-Tailed Naruto Uzumaki off the list of playable Accel 2 characters, when he's been confirmed in three different scans/commercials. Whoever it is, please stop it. He is CONFIRMED. Akatsuki.sousui (talk) 05:26, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:NarutimateHero3CharacterSelect.jpg

Image:NarutimateHero3CharacterSelect.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
