Ballinascarthy is a village in West Cork.
Location
Ballinascarthy is located eight kilometres from Clonakilty and is on the main road to Cork.The town centre can often be congested due to volumes of traffic going to and from Cork City.
Places Of Interest
Nearby is the Lisselan Estate, the gardens of which are open to the public. There is also a golf course and fishing is a big industry.Henry Ford,the famous machine manufacturer,was of Irish descent.His grandfather was born in Ballinascarthy before immigrating to the USA.Henry Ford went on to be one of the most influential people in the transport industry,inventing mass production and the famous Fordson F,which put many early tractor manufacturers out of business.
