Old template

Other/Final? Substitute

Another option, one thing I'd like to avoid across the board is links in the columns, particularly one as important as the Magic one (though given the complexity of the magic system, might be difficult). What really needs to happen is just a good work-through of all the pages to expand them to a similar level of complexity. But none of us have the time for that I think! What do y'all think of the second template? More compact. Perhaps we could take the small off of some of the groups? WLU (talk) 22:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to respond to your comment. We should combine Moranth munition page into the Moranth Race page with a link on the Malazan Empire page and combine Otataral in the Magic page. What do you think? Krmarshall (talk) 03:52, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Characters should come after Groups and Magic since both Groups and Magic are larger entities than a single character. Krmarshall (talk) 03:54, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reordered per suggestion, and per discussion to move munitions and otataral, I've merged DOD and TOTH into Magic. WLU (talk) 22:35, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My vote is here for this centered one.

I quite like this above, after twiddling with it for a while and looking at other book series templates. Also, I'll try my best to expand some more Malazan articles because it seems a lot more could be done for it on Wikipedia. Jeffsul (talk) 22:51, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since this isn't an official main page, we can talk here. I hate the lines between sections, and think they're unnecessary since they're different color blocks (which we can probably change). WLU (talk) 18:20, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I just didn't like that there was no separation at all. Also, I think the forthcoming novels should be on a separate line. And i don't know if it is default but it requires you to press 'Show' before you can see it is that just because there is another one on the page or can that be changed? Also, could you put the link in that you have for the color options? Krmarshall (talk) 21:02, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I tried tweaking around the colours a bit - tell me what you think. Oh, and Krmarshall, all you have to do to edit colours is click on "Edit this page" and scroll down to the template.Jeffsul (talk) 21:24, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The auto-collapse is because there's two navboxes on the page, and it shouldn't happen on the page proper(s) - if that doesn't work then there's an auto-collapse that can be set to 'no'. A partial list of colors can be found at List of colors, but WP:COLOR should have more resources. All the places that use 'blue', 'red', 'brown', etc, can be replaced with the hex code for more refined colouring and whatnot. Template:Navbox has all the variables that can be manipulated as well - I tried to stick in a picture, but it really threw off the spacing of the box and may violate the imageuse guidelines. What about centering all the list stuff? And if anyone has ideas for better group names, or a way to integrate the wikilinks out of the group name and into the lists? And I'd like to reduce the size of Erikson's box 'cause it's so dominating of the whole template.
Also, for ease of reading, I spaced the discussion per WP:TALK - not mandatory, but makes it easer to see the different comments. WLU (talk) 21:51, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
