Paul Salvator Goldengreen (Aug. 27 1960) Warburg is an artist whose work originates in Art Brut /Outsider Art .
birth and education
From 1976 to 1979 he became a sole trader in Warburg. After the 15month lasting basic military service in the German Army in Munster and Lueneburg 1980/81, he studied 6 semesters at Westfalenkolleg in Paderborn, from 1982 until the end of 1984, getting the Abitur at the 2.Bildungsweg. Since autumn 85 he studied Biology in Muenster and Bielefeld, finished the Grundstudium and nearly the whole Hauptstudium with two examinations missing. He almost completed the basic studies in English while studying biology. In 1991 he left Bielefeld and returned home.
Artistic Path
After the death of his mother he became mentally ill in the mid-90s. Goldengreen recovered by the help of artistic work. He tries to develop his own personality and that of the recipient by art and creating art works. Thus he significantly differs from positions of the Zustandsgebundene Kunst, state-bound art, a term formed by Leo Navratil. To Navratil patients create only in the acute stages of their mental illnessess artistically relevant works that he called Zustandsgebundene Kunst. Goldengreen overcomes the mental illness by artistic work and tries to differentiate feelings through the refinement of the Artistic technique while maintaining spontaneity of art brut.
Since April 2007 representation in the Gallery Of Inspiration by the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (North America) as a permanent exhibition curated on the Internet. Although he has his origins in Art therapy this context is opened at "Artecomunicarte" (Central America, Spanish), see Weblinks. In April 2007 there was the unanimous judged participation in the first Outsider Art market in the Prinzhorn Collection, Heidelberg, with 20 paintings.
From this time the donation "Archaic Deity" is part of the collection Museum Prinzhorn. The painting was shown in the the group exhibition "The Collection Grows".
The until now not finished Complete Work includes about 500 mostly large and expressive, coloured images, often going together with highly concentrated and cryptic symbols. There are as well several smaller sculptures and some 200 poems about the themes free nature, landscape and soul.
