The subject is more properly "Music controller" rather than "MIDI Controller," because many new controllers (e.g., [[Monome]] emit [[Open Sound Control]] data rather than (or in addition to) MIDI. It is the fact that these devices control musical data that is relevant, not which data standard they support.

This article is too technical, and no general definition was given. I'm sure there are plenty of this or thats, but it should be clear to the standard reader what something typically is when it is labelled a "MIDI controller".
