I had the [[Prince-Bishop|Prince-Bishops]] in mind, Joe, not the Papal States, which were not part of the patchwork in its craziest stage. Welcome
Welcome!
Hello, Jcrook1987, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! IZAK 02:22, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

You made a big technical error
Hi Jcrook: Thanks for conctacting me. You made a classical big error when you "cut and paste" the Sadducee to Sadducees article -- you lost the TALK page (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sadducee) and all the discussion (all talk pages are imporatant parts of the record of that article). When an important article that has been around for some time is "redirected", you must click on "move" (at the top of all pages) ONLY which will automatically redirect the article AND its Talk page/s. Do NOT do it by "cut and paste" (there are Wikipedia rules about this: "Please request a page move on Wikipedia:Requested moves if you cannot do so, but please do not just copy and paste the contents (doing that destroys the page's edit history).") If the move does not work, then you must contact an admin to help you make the move/redirect. I will try to correct the problem. IZAK 05:06, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again, I have reverted both your changes, so the situation is back to where it was before you "cut and paste". The correct procedure is to request a "renaming", which is a different process, and I will do it now. Thanks. IZAK 05:18, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, take a look at Wikipedia:Requested moves#27 March 2006 and you will see how the move is being handled. Feel free to conact me. IZAK 05:33, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Heh.
Yeah, I've been at Simple for like two days. But I've been at Uncyclopedia for a year, and editing here for a few months. I happen to have a .js function to subst the welcome template, so I just welcome people (to come across as nice and get my edit count up, of course). :] --Keitei (talk) 05:46, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Welcome to Esperanza
Welcome, Jcrook1987, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee - JoanneB, Titoxd and FireFox. The elections have ended.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!
Thanks! _-M o P-_ 00:05, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Welcomes
Hello, I noticed you put a welcome on User talk:I had a threesome with NicholasTurnbull and Raul654. Please consider only welcoming appropriate usernames. Both NicholasTurnbull and Raul654 are long time contributers and admins and that username can be considered an attack and has been blocked. Any such username would be blocked. Thank you.--Dakota ~ ° 21:55, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Family trees
Thanks for your comment. My own family tree (in the Carr line) was traced by my great-grandfather in the UK in about 1910. That established the link to Lionel Duke of Clarence, and from there the geneaology of the Royal Family is easy to find. On my mother's side, the Drake-Brockmans are a well-known family whose ancestry has been traced by a cousin in Perth. Adam 01:59, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Old Skool Esperanzial note
Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!
Thanks for your support on the advisory council elections. Davidpk212 18:04, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Admin coaching - request held
Due to your recent inactivity I've moved your request for admin coaching to the held section of Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs/Coaching box. Feel free to re-add your name to the main list on your return if you are still interested in coaching, or to ask me any questions. Cheers, Petros471 14:25, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Participation Drive
League of Copyeditors participation drive!
Dear League member,
We've started a participation drive for the remainder of February. If you can, please help clear the backlog by adopting the following goals each week:
- Select an article to copy-edit from the backlog. After your copy-edit, list the article in the articles ready for final proofread section.
- Select a different article to proofread from the articles ready for final proofread section.
Thanks for your help! Rintrah 09:37, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 06:23, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Admin coaching request
You have previously expressed an interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. We're currently engaged in a program reset to help things move more smoothly in the future. If you are still interested in the program, please go to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching and re-list yourself under Current requests, deleting your entry from Older requests. Also, double-check to make sure coaching is right for you at theCoachee checklist; WP:Adoption or WP:Editor review may be more appropriate depending on your situation and aspirations. We should get back to you within a day or so, once a coaching relationship has been identified. Thank you. MBisanz talk 06:55, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Admin coaching match
Hello, I am pleased to announce that you have been paired with User:Shell_Kinney as an admin coachee. You now have two important tasks to complete:
- 1. Introduce yourself to Shell_Kinney and explain to them why you want to be an admin.
- 2. Once they has confirmed the relationship to you, edit Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching to move your name to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Status to record the match.
Given the limited coaching resources of the Admin Coaching project, if you plan to take a Wikibreak of more than 30 days, please notify your coach or myself so that we will know not to tag you as retired and give your spot to another user. Remember that adminship is not a big deal and that it may take multiple RfAs before one becomes a sysop, even for a highly qualified, coached, editor. Also, remember that while admin coaching will help you prepare for the mop, there is no guarantee that completing this program will ensure passage of an RfA.
Congratulations again, and happy editing. MBisanz talk 20:26, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
