Star Ocean: The First Departure is an enhanced remake[1] of the original Star Ocean. It has been confirmed as being in development for the PSP [2]. The first details of the game were revealed at the "Star Ocean Special Stage" during the Square Enix Party 2007. Yoshinori Yamagishi, producer of the series, stated that he wants the remakes to feel as though they're completely new games[3].

The Eternal Edition of Star Ocean: The First Departure was a special edition of the game (it included a limited cover, similar to Square Enix's Crisis_Core package) released on December 27th, 2007 that included a ice blue PSP Slim with exclusive artwork on the back, a collector's box, and a silver pouch to carry it in.
