Biography

Terrence Jenkins, Better known as Terrence J, is most famous for being the host of BET's ever-popular music video countdown show 106 & Park.


Terrence J attended Northern Nash High School]] in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He spent his college years at North Carolina A&T State University. During his tenure at North Carolina A&T State University, he has also served as Student Government Association President and as a DJ for North Carolina A&T's radio station WNAA-FM and local radio stations, WJMH-FM, and 102 Jamz.


Terrence J is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and was initiated in Spring 2004 to the Bloody Mu Psi Chapter at North Carolina A&T State University. His line name was "Texas Justice."

BET's 106 & Park

New York native Terrence Jenkins, a.k.a. Terrence J, is the co-host of BET’s 106 & Park, which can be seen in over 85 million homes in the U.S., Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. Due to the huge success of the show, 106 & Park is also set to premier in Germany and South Africa very soon. 106 & Park is BET's highest-rated music series of all time and has quickly become the leading music video countdown show on television, holding the number one slot among African American households!


Terrence J first auditioned for the position in the summer of 2005, when BET presented the "New Faces Contest", which was being used to find replacements for the original hosts, Free and AJ Calloway.

106 & Park Weekend Countdown Radio Show

In 2006, he began co-hosting BET’s nationally syndicated radio show 106 & Park Weekend Countdown, which airs in over 35 markets. 106 & Park Weekend Countdown takes the top-rated BET countdown show straight to the radio! On “106 & Park Top Ten Live,” hosts Terrence and Rocsi count down the top 10 requests of the week, while offering celebrity news and gossip to boot. There's also an “On the Reel” feature that gives you the latest on what's going on with African Americans in film, a “BET Rewind,” recounting the week in review, and a “BET Look Ahead,” with the 411 on what's coming up on BET. Finally, the “Freestyle Friday” winner brings the heat to the radio where he/she shows their freestyling skills.

Jenkins Entertainment Group

Terrence J is the co-founder of Jenkins Entertainment Group, a company that specializes in the following: hosting, consulting and formulating marketing plans – all the necessities to make any event successful. During its first year in operation, Jenkins Entertainment Group grossed over $500,000. The company is booked well into 2008 and is in heavy negotiations with several Fortune 500 companies to plan events to connect them with urban America.

Steve Harvey's Disney Dreamer's Academy

Comedian/actor/syndicated radio talk show host, Steve Harvey, selected Terrence J to be one of the select few celebrity mentors to take part in his highly-esteemed Disney Dreamer's Academy mentoring program. The event took place January 17-20, 2008 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. One hundred high school students were chosen from across the nation to attend the event and participate in educational lectures, workshops, and activities to learn about the power of dreams and how to make them realities. Many celebrities were in attendance to further inspire and motivate the students, Terrence J being among them.


McDonald's African American Achievers Scholarship

Recognizing his zeal for education, Ronald McDonald House Charities has named Terrence J the head of its campaign for the African American Future Achievers Scholarship. To date, over $29 million has been awarded to help high school seniors attend college and, with Terrence J’s help, this commitment to excellence and higher education will reach even more students. As the ambassador of this campaign, Terrence J will travel to 10 schools in the New York tri-state area, promoting the importance of education, and will conclude each visit with a ceremony in honor of the scholarship recipients.


Sean John

Terrence J has been named one of the new faces of the Sean John Men's Clothing Line for 2008, appearing in promotional materials and modeling at select runway events, including BET’s Rip the Runway. In addition to modeling, Terrence J will work closely with Diddy and staff to put out promotional initiatives and to give back to the community.Terrance J is known for dating his co host Rocsi.

Boost Mobile "Stomping on the Yard"

Terrence J has also just been appointed the title of Host/MC for the Boost Mobile Stomping on the Yard National Step Show Tour. This event is billed as a celebration of leadership, scholarship, and showmanship. With Greek fraternities and sororities nationwide making appearances, the tour has a HUGE turnout. This electrifying competition inspired the box office hit “Stomp the Yard” and also boasts its own ESPN special.
