Shouldn't we mention something about how Norris kjeeps popping up in pop culture? For example, I was just watching "[[Pani Poni Dash!]]" episode 22, and Ichijō mentions about how "Chuck Norris is better" than Becky. |

Dating of "internet phenomenon"
From the article: "In 2006, he became the subject of an internet phenomenon known as Chuck Norris Facts." There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of animals Chuck Norris allows to live. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.194.61 (talk) 05:15, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
This needs to be qualified better. As far as I know, the internet phenomenon is definitely older than 2006, although how old I'm not certain of.
Also, He is the god of all gods. there is inconsistency in the article. Later on it says that it was in "late 2005".
- I saw stuff as early as Spring of 04 in various chat rooms, 05-06ish in WoW. Although, we need to look more for verification than the "true" start, because it probably didn't get any media attention until well after it started. spazure (contribs) 08:17, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Upcoming "Legend of Chuck Norris" film or animated series?
I've heard rumors of an upcoming film and/or animated television series derived from the famous "Chuck Norris Facts." There's currently a splash page on legendofchucknorris.com hinting at that fact, plus a teaser on YouTube. This may be worth adding to the article under "Popular Culture." His twelve rules
Chuck Norris has compiled a personal code that i think should be added but i don't know where or how. here they are:
- I will kick your ass
- I will forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements.
- I will always be in a positive frame of mind and convey this feeling to every person that I meet.
- I will continually work at developing love, happiness and loyalty in my family and acknowledge that no other success can compensate for failure in the home.
- I will look for the good in all people and make them feel worthwhile.
- If I have nothing good to say about a person, I will say nothing.
- I will give so much time to the improvement of myself that I will have no time to criticize others.
- I will always be as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
- I will maintain an attitude of open-mindedness toward another person's viewpoint while still holding fast to that which I know to be true and honest.
- I will maintain respect for those in authority and demonstrate this respect at all times.
- I will always remain loyal to God, my country, family and my friends.
- I will remain highly goal-oriented throughout my life because that positive attitude helps my family, my country, and myself.

I got these from his official website. what should we do about them? Technobabble1 18:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe you should post them under the "Remarks" section. They seem very intersting.Ron3090 16:18, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Images
The picture was too weak, as a childhood Chuck Norris fan I had to change it - this "Invasion USA" was a great mindless comedy from 80s. :) --Tigry 05:41, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- I guess, there's enough space to include two images, so I re-added the original photo and moved the movie poster to the filmography section. --fschoenm 22:09, Feb 28, 2005 (UTC)
What Happened too all the images theres only that one picture of him that looks nothing like Chuck Did for most life in the public eye. at least one picture of him with a beard is nessacary. Technobabble1 02:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Citing Resources
Does anyone know of legitimate resources (books, autobiographies, etc) for these facts? The page should have refrences.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.174.6.200 (talk • contribs) 04:21, December 9, 2005. Landmark
The landmark section is only vaguely related to Mr. Norris. He's not leading the poll and he's only and option because pranksters from the US are adding him to the list of possibilities. Is there any proof there's any 'controversy' about this poll as the section suggests? Smaerd 18:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, it was directly mentioned on the Colbert Report, where viewers were told to go to the site, click specific links to open up the vote page, and specifically vote for Stephen Colbert. I'm assuming the votes for Chuck are due to the internet meme or a scripting element making the votes on his behalf. Either way, he's far, far behind and it's quite irrelevant. It should only be on a Colbert Report site. Consequently, I think it should be removed from here.
I agree, the section should be removed, as the Colbert already won the poll. One paragraph telling that Norris was in the lead in such a poll (plus a link to the Northern M0 Danube bridge page) should be enough. Nene 10:09, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- Have removed the section and added a reference in the "Popular Culture" section. Venky 07:02, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Typo's
I'm nitpicking as well, in mentioning his second wife, marriage is spelled "marrigage"... needs to be fixed. ILoveConcerts (talk) 00:07, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Maybe it's nitpicking, but it would be nice if someone would correct his brother's name in the first line under "Beginnings" and add a dot in the last sentence before "Walker, Texas Ranger".—The preceding unsigned comment was added by RypER (talk • contribs) 19:26, August 5, 2006.
There's a misspelling for "receiving" under Chuck Norris' picture. "Chuck Norris reciving the Veteran of the Year award by the U.S. Air Force"
The article refers to Chuck Norris as "Chuck" in some places, instead of the more encyclopedic "Norris." I would change it, but the page appears to be locked. Can the powers that be intervene? 75.68.211.103 01:47, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Skimmed the article and changed the ones I noticed. If you see any I missed feel free to point them out. -R. fiend 01:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Ruud Draak?
According to IMDB, Chuck Norris' father was named Ray. Why would a half-Irish, half-Cherokee American have an obviously Dutch name? Any info on this?
- I have no Welsh in me, but Cameron is a Welsh name.Cameron Nedland 17:50, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Just because his name is Ray doesn't nessecarily mean anything. People don't always name their children after their nationality.Ron3090 16:15, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- What is obviously Dutch? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond. Don't forget that the Dutch settled in Britain and Ireland (as well as USA)a few centuries ago so the name is certainly integrated by now. It is also a saint's name, so a Catholic might choose to use it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.13.39.98 (talk) 12:29, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Iconic status
I noticed that recently PhantomTiger removed the Chuck Norris jokes stating they were jokes...although it is true, I think that they have a very important place in recent pop culture, and should be put in, as they were, a seperate section.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheMeerkat311 (talk • contribs) 05:20, September 5, 2006.
They are jokes, and as such have little place in this article. If I'm not mistaken, it already has reference to Norris as a pop-culture icon, we don't need examples of the jokes themselves. OutlandishTeacup 11:20, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Then that makes you extremely boring Mr Boringteacup.
I think there should be a stronger reference to the role that 'Dodgeball' played in feeding the Chuck Norris internet phenomena, particularly the film's final post-credit scene, where a fat-suited Ben Stiller mutters the words "F#%@ing Chuck Norris....".
Archive
I've archived all talk that has no comments in August or September. Let's try and stay on top of unsigned comments. Remind people to sign and make sure to use the unsigned template, with a date stamp. This makes archiving much easier I found dozens upon dozens of comments in there that were not signed. It took extensive digging to find out who posted what and when to see if it could be archived.--Crossmr 20:01, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

On The Shaky Quality of This Article's Research
Since when does Tae Kwon Do have a "4,500 year-long documented history of Tae Kwon Do"? You definitely need a citation - and "no" - comic books do not count... Stevenmitchell 21:32, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's fine. No martial art has a history that old, not even tae kwon do's father arts of taekyon and hwarangdo - not even Shaolin! --Bentonia School 05:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Chuck Norris Facts
I would like to know more about this Chuck Norris Facts thing. Perhaps in this article, perhaps in a separate one. Could someone please give more examples (currently there's only one in the article)? and how they are usually applied? thanks from a non-native speaker 62.178.193.144 22:15, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Chuck Norris as Reserve Police Officer
I once saw a TV story which noted that Chuck Norris was a reserve police officer for an agency in Texas, and was wondering if anyone knew about this? Pyrogen 20:08, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
"4,500 year-long documented history of Tae Kwon Do"
The word "Taekwondo" has only existed since 1955, so this would have to refer to the history of Korean martial arts in general. Whether "4500" is accurate is a different matter. Shawnc 01:41, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I suppose it would have to refer to martial arts in general, not just Korean - even though the eariest form of gungfu was still about 2500 years away from being invented... --Bentonia School 05:25, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- This is another Chuck Norris joke. 68.10.133.142 (talk) 03:33, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
"BJJ blackbelt"
This needs to be verified. We do know he trained with Rickson Gracie and Helio Gracie in the 80's[1] and it's been suggested that he received a black belt from Jean-Jaques Machado but there is no mention of this on Machado's website.[2] Shawnc 04:46, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- This is indeed the case, and both the Machado brothers feature in Walker Texas Ranger in a scene where Walker is training BJJ with them both. There's an article in one of my "Grappling" magazines, I will dig out issue number so it can be used as a citation. Moh man742 06:04, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Why is there a picture of Gary Coleman in the Chuck Norris article? Somebody please change it.83.233.58.62 02:15, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

internet meme's
While Chuck Norris facts may actually be an internet meme (as they have seen growth, transmission, evolution -- from Vin Diesel), The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny is not an internet meme. It is a fad or a viral video, or something, but I have seen no evidence of influence the popular video has had on further videos. There is no lasting impact on the culture of the internet from this video. Furthermore, the terms 'meme' and 'internet meme' are not use on the page for The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. I request that the description of The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny as an 'internet meme' be removed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.252.40.52 (talk) 18:39, 31 January 2007 (UTC).
Christian
To which Christian denomination does Chuck Norris belong (if any in particular)? That could be an important point for a biographical article like this - especially when categorising under "Christian people". --Grimhelm 21:12, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Fumio Demura Reference
Is there a reason that Fumio Demura is described as "infamous"? Nothing on his page suggests that he might have a negative reputation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.37.206.6 (talk) 06:09, 5 March 2007 (UTC).

Alcoholism?
I noticed that the "Biography" section says he was born to an alcoholic father, and that this line differs quite a bit from previous versions. I could be completely wrong, but this seems to be very subtle vandalism to me. Can anyone come up with a source for this? DudleyScardsdale 18:51, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Checked reference; it's accurate. See also google: "chuck norris" alcoholic father -wikipedia — Demong talk 02:36, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Law School Education?
There was a revert war going on over at Brooklyn Law School a while ago about whether or not Norris attended at some point. It was claimed that there's a reference to it in his autobiography "Against All Odds". Does anyone know if this is true?--Cdogsimmons 21:50, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Way of the Dragon
The article says that Way of the Dragon is "also known as Return of the Dragon". Although this is technically true, it is only true in a limited sense, and primarily due to flaws in renaming Lee's films in the US (for western distribution). I propose changing this line to something along the lines of "re-titled Return of the Dragon by US distributors for western release". Thoughts? --Bentonia School 04:56, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- It's been a couple weeks and no beefs on rewording this section for actuality, so I've changed it. --Bentonia School 17:50, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Say what?
Much of the following doesn't make any grammatical sense.
He then attended Pembroke College, Oxford for a brief period before joining the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman in 1958 and was sent to Osan Air Base, South Korea. It was in South Korea that Norris acquired the nickname Chuck and began his training in Tang Soo Do (tangsudo), an interest that would lead to black belts in that art, as well as Taekwondo, and Shito ryu Karate, and the founding of the Chun Kuk Do ("Universal Way") form and the education associations United Fighting Arts Federation and "KickStart", formerly "Kick Drugs Out of America", a middle school – and high school – based program intended to give at-risk children a focus point in life through the martial arts.
It seems that the eras of each achievement are intermingled when they shouldn't be. I believe many of them - from his first training in Korea to the Kickstart program - are decades apart. Needs fixin'. --Bentonia School 17:46, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

"However, in the same interview Mike said that he still wouldn't want to mess with his dad."
it says that his kid thinks of his dad as a loving father and say however he still wouldnt want to mess with his dad. this is weird. if a son loves his dad then he would want to harm his dad. i dont know what this article is trying to say... Mambi55 06:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Gabby Di Ciolli
IMDB indicates that she only appeared in a film co-written by Mike Norris, and in which Chuck Norris also starred. The movie was called Bells of Innocence, and is itself of borderline notability. Clearly, she is not yet notable as an actress. The only context in which I feel she *might* be worth mentioning is to say that Norris has worked with family members in film. Other than that, she might be be left out of this article - she is only one of six grandchildren, and nothing is being said about the other five who, presumably are also apparently not notable. 82.71.48.158 03:45, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

- Yes, he and his wife, hock the "Total Gym" via infomercials. This should probably be mentioned in the article though a source would need to be found that offers more details on his involvement with the Total Gym. --Cab88 10:11, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

NOT the FirstWestern 8th Dan
Chuck Norris was NOT the first western 8th Dan in TKD. There were at least two other North Americans before him. Charles 'Chuck' Sereff was awarded his 8th Dan in 1990 and his 9th Dan in 1997 by General Choi Hong Hi of the ITF (founder of ITF, founder of Chang Hon TKD and inventor of the name TaeKwon-Do). http://ohdokwan.ca/charlessereff.html
Edward Sell was awarded his 8th Dan by the WTF in 1987 and his 9th Dan in 1997. http://christiantaekwondouniversity.net/founders.htm
It might be more accurate to say Mr Norris was the first to receive an 8th Dan in whichever particular association awarded him, however, when the two largest world governing bodies of TKD award 8th Dans to Americans at least seven years before Chuck Norris received his 8th Dan (and from which organisation?)it is hard to accept the idea that Chuck Norris was the first westerner to get and 8th Dan TKD. Problem in Intro
"who is most well known for playing Cordell "Cord" Walker on Walker, Texas Ranger and for his iconically tough image." That seems pretty opinion based to me. He was pretty much a household name for his action film acting long before the show, and while it certainly didn't hurt his fame, that particular line appears to be more point of view then fact and needs to go on that grounds (and if it is being presented as a fact, it needs to either be supported with a source, or removed on those grounds).
- I agree. Walker was a reasonably successful show because he was on it, not vice versa.--Kgroover (talk) 21:31, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Cordell was never called Cord
As an avid Ranger viewer I have never and WILL NEVER hear him called Cord. He is Cordell to everyone including his wife Alex Cahill and CD. Not even Donovan Riggs (played by Gary Busey) called him Cord and that man is #@(%ing crazy. Rmccorma (talk) 02:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC) rmccorma
