Examples of such courses are AP Physics (offered at CHS) or AP Environmental Science (offered at CV).

According to the 2006-2007 School Report Card, the average SAT score of CV students is higher than the state or national averages (with 66% participating) [2]. In 2007, the school met AYP targets set by the No Child Left Behind Act for the first time since the act's legislation [3].

Athletics

Crescent Valley sports include boys' and girls' teams in cross country, football, swimming, basketball, soccer, baseball/softball, tennis, wrestling and track and field. Other athletic activities include a dance team, mixed cheerleading squad and golf team.

Crescent Valley teams have won numerous recognitions in recent years. The boys' and girls' swim teams each won OSAA 5A state championships in 2007. The girls' cross country team placed second at the state championships in 2007, qualifying two runners for the Nike Border Clash. The boys' cross country team placed fourth at the state championships in 2007. The girls' soccer team earned second place in state in the fall of 2006, losing to Bend in the title game in double overtime. Girls' basketball, boys' golf and the dance team all attended state championships in 2007, and boys' golf went on to become state champions.

Band

Crescent Valley has three concert bands: a concert band exclusively for freshman, an intermediate symphonic band and a wind ensemble for more advanced musicians. There is also a pep band, marching band and two jazz bands. Kristine Janes is the principal band director.

In 2007, the Crescent Valley bands received several regional honors, including winning the Mid-Willamette League Band Competition. The wind ensemble placed third in the 2007 OSAA 5A State Band Competition. They also placed first in sight reading and third academically.

Jazz musician Chris Botti played in Crescent Valley bands for his first three years of high school. He choose to complete his final high school credits at Mt. Hood Community College (earning his diploma at CV) in order to play in the MHCC jazz band.

Choir

Crescent Valley's choral department, under the direction of Emily Thielen, offers three choirs for students. Most first-year students in the department perform in Singers, the beginning mixed choir. More advanced singers are placed in the Concert Choir, Men's Choir, or Women's Chamber Choir. At the 2008 Oregon State High School Choral Festival, the Concert Choir placed third overall, and came in first for sight-reading.

Orchestra

The Corvallis orchestra is a combination of both Corvallis high schools: [4]Corvallis High and Crescent Valley High. The Director is Mr. Charles Creighton, who is also the conductor for the Corvallis Youth Symphony. The orchestra is widely renowned throughout the northwest, having won the Mt. Hood Symphony festival 1989,1993,1996,1997,1998,2002.

Due to the low school budget in the Corvallis region, including nearby towns such as Philomath and Albany, the orchestra is also funded by outside contributions from donors.
