Due to this schools location in the upper-middle class to wealthy class area of Park Ridge, the school is rather homogenous, with enrollment at Maine South High School at 92% White. Since the average students home to attend this school is roughly worth $450,000-$550,000, but can range from around $350,000-$3,000,000, the school gets a tremendous amount of funding, which makes it one of the best secondary high schools in the country. Maine South's football program is one of the best in the country, where it averagely scores in the top three teams in the state of Illinois on a regular basis. Maine South also performs extremely well in most of their other sports programs. Maine South High School plays in the Central Suburban South conference, which is thought to be one of the best conference's in the state. Maine South High School is a public high school located in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, Illinois, and has sister schools of Maine East High School (northern Park Ridge), and Maine West High School (lower west of Des Plaines). Its address is 1111 South Dee Road in southern Park Ridge. The school serves mainly the city of Park Ridge, but it also serves some of Niles, Harwood Heights, and unincorporated Norwood Park Township. School size is approximately 2,500 and generally growing.
Maine South's academic programs range from romedial/academy class, to accelerated honors/AP classes. Maine South High School's test scores score in the top 15% in the country, and is considered in the top ten public high schools (by the Illinois State Achievement Test) in the Chicagoland area.
