This page is an incomplete list of proposed mergers. Anyone may list any article merger proposal here. This is optional, and it does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s) to the articles before listing them here. See Category:Merge by month for all pages needing to be merged.

Guidelines

In general, this page should be used primarily to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers (particularly those of a controversial nature), or assistance with difficult or complicated mergers. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.

• Merge Lately (Samantha Mumba song) with Lately (Divine song) as the former is a cover of the latter.
• Merge A Foreign Policy of Freedom into Ron Paul. The former is a book written by the latter that has received little independent coverage. Burzmali (talk) 16:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

• Merge solo hiking to hiking. The former article just lists how hiking alone is different from hiking in a group. It is very short and has not been really updated since its creation. It should be made into a subsection of the main article. JIP | Talk 11:42, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
• Merge Sex and the City (film) into Sex and the City: The Movie. Reasonings have been brought up on Sex and the City: The Movie to keep it as the main page, but users redirected to Sex and the City (film) in the meantime anyways. • Merge Maxwell Show into WMMS (FM). This has been requested for some time. Maxwell Show slightly improved, but not by much. Please put Maxwell Show into a section under WMMS (FM). The two individual character pages repeats a lot of information - and most of that info is already well covered in the duo's shared article. And specific differences between the two can be said on the shared page. If later on enough depth and coverage can be provided for each character the two can be split. • Merge and redirect Nay Aug Amusement Park with Nay Aug. Amusement park was small and based out of larger Nay Aug Park. Park is now closed and there is very little detail to merit it having its own article. Nay Aug article is more fleshed and is the common name used when referring to park. Amusement park article is also practically orphaned.
• Merge and redirect Curl Curl Beach with Curl Curl, New South Wales. There is very limited info in Curl Curl Beach, which can be mentioned in it's own section within the Curl Curl, New South Wales article. Terovian (talk) 11:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
• Merge (or redirect) Rodimus to Hot Rod (Transformers). The articles are very nearly identical - the only major difference is in what name they use to introduce the character. It appears that Rodimus was originally a redirect to Hot Rod (Transformers), but then someone had the infinite wisdom to replace it with a copy&paste copy of the latter article. • Manny Ribera, Alex Sosa, and Frank Lopez all merge to Scarface (1983 film); each of these articles contains nothing more than plot summary and none of these characters have enough real-world notability to justify having separate articles. • Outside Context Problem to Excession. Discussion. The 1996 Iain M. Banks novel Excession is the origin of this neologism and, so far, the only referenced work on the article. Although Banks' idea may be applicable to cultural anthropology, there is as yet no sign that the term has acquired currency. The merge has been challenged, however, hence this discussion. 11:18, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

• Portions of Paul Revere's Ride and Paul Revere - Former article was originally intended to be about the poem by Longfellow, as the edit history will confirm. It has, instead, become a lengthy article on the historical ride of Revere. Revere's article already has most of this information (but this one is better sourced, it seems) but an editor of both articles refuses to make the merge and is no longer responding on Talk:Paul Revere's Ride. • Buses in New York City into New York City Transit buses and MTA Bus Company: This proposal is going to be controversial, but the above two are the, with two minor exception, providers of franchised bus operations in New York City. • Marxism in India into Socialism in India. Marxism in India is within the scope of the Socialism in India article. The article is not really about Indian interpretations on Marxist theory, but about the contemporary left movement in India. Thus they can be merged. --Soman (talk) 12:48, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

• There was already an existing tag proposing Basal thermometer's merger into Thermometer. In the interim basal was redirected/merged into Medical thermometer. • Scripting programming languages contains the early history of Scripting languages, and was moved by this copy-paste move in August, 2005. It needs an admin to do a history merge from Scripting programming languages to Scripting languages. • merge Philippines' Next Top Model and Philippines' Next Top Model, Cycle 1. Since there is still no confirmation about a possible second cycle of PNTM, it should not have been split in the first place. And now, because of the "unpermitted" split, an overly-parodized and overly-vandalized article was created out of a hoax article that is Philippines' Next Top Model, Cycle 2. • merge Paraceratherium and Indricotherium. In french the corresponding articles are already merged. Here the difficulty is that both articles in english complete each other. The reason for the proposed merge is that : larger more robust Indricotherium with larger incisors being probably the male, and the more gracile Paraceratherium the female. It make no sense to have to articles describing a single specie. It need just a reference that historically they seemed to be different species. 6 January 2008

• Merge Union Flag into Flag of the United Kingdom (discussion), likely controversial merger. At present two articles deal with the the same subject in order to avoid edit warring over the name of the article. • Merge Advanced Mobile Phone Service to a history section in Advanced Mobile Phone System. It seems that the company represents the history of AMPS and nothing else. • Merge Good Times with Mo with Mo Twister. Former is primarily about the latter anyway, and has little context without the latter (i.e., Twister himself is really the focus here). • Proposed merger of Fascist italianization and Italianization - a into a single article Italianization. I came upon this by chance. This article was in one piece until recently divided without any question or consensus. I tried moving the page back myself but I made it even worse so now there are three instead of just two pages. The first two pages are good enough for article with subsections (as it was), the third was my mistake and should be deleted be best of by being totally removed. --Raguseo 02:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Update. Second article has been redirected into third article. No apparent consensus to fold the first into the third. • Tags listed since two months back on World Cup of Hockey, to merge with Canada Cup (ice hockey). Content heavily overlapping. Lejman 02:36, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

• Proposed merger of Blue Fugates into Methemoglobinemia. This was proposed a year ago by another user, but was incomplete. (The user added the mergeto template, but didn't list the merger proposal here or on any talk page.) Two editors, including me, disagreed with the proposal. I have restarted the merger proposal (discuss) to make sure it's handled correctly. Personally, I'm voting against, but want to give the proposal a fair shake.
• Proposed merger of MEGA Cosmos (Canada) into Mega Channel: There is already a section on Mega Channel about it's international broadcast called Mega Cosmos. The channel is the same all over the world, but in Canada Ethnic Channels Group will add Canadian content them selfs per CRTC requirement. I think that info can be easly added into the existing article. Also the channel is not owned by Ethnic Channels Group as the 1st article mentions. Planecrazy22 23:54, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
• Proposed merger of Drapetomania and Samuel A. Cartwright. The former was a "scientific" theory of why people held in slavery ran away. The later was the person who came up with it. It seems to me that one doesn't have much notability without the other and they could easily be put together. Neither is very long. Steve Dufour 19:35, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

• Proposed merger of Interior decoration into Interior design. The terms "interior design" and "interior decoration" overlap somewhat and are narrowly defined to apply only to the U.S. context as to usage because of the U.S. state regulation of the practice of interior design. • Maybe to be double check but I think the articles Cyclostyle (copier) and Mimeograph machine need to be merged because it is only different names given to a same machine. The first one is very small compared to the second one so maybe a deletion of the first one and then a redirection would be the best. Popol 1d 17:41, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
• Church of St. Anne, Talaulim and St. Anne Church, Goa. Both refer to the same church in Goa, probably the largest church in Asia.
• There was some discussion before on merging P53 with TP53. It is my opinion that the best thing would be to have this information in one article, but at least they should be renamed and put in a disambig for TP53 - because both protein and gene are named TP53. --Maxxicum 09:24, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
