Joe Lewis (born 6 October 1987) is an English footballer who currently plays in goal for Peterborough United, having made a £400k transfer from Norwich City on 8 January 2008.

Following a knee injury to Paul Crichton, 16-year-old schoolboy keeper Lewis was handed a first team squad number and a place on the Norwich City bench for victories over Crystal Palace and Reading in the 2003–04 season.

Joe has been with the Canaries from a very early age and was initially spotted by Colin Watts, the Club’s Youth Recruitment Officer. He was formerly a student at Bungay High School. Joe is also a fine cricketer and like other sportsmen in the past has had to make the difficult decision of which discipline to pursue. He chose the football path and was rewarded by being called up for England Schoolboy sides and most recently has held down a place in the Canaries’ Academy under-19 squad.

During the summer of 2006, Nigel Worthington announced that he would be looking to send Lewis out on loan for the 06/07 season in order to enable him to gain first-team experience. However, the sale of Robert Green to West Ham meant that Lewis became second choice goalkeeper at Carrow Road. An injury to Lewis then prompted the loan signing of Lee Camp.

Lewis spent the latter stages of the 06/07 season on loan at Stockport County, playing five games and keeping three clean sheets. He was rewarded with a three year deal at Norwich, in May 2007.

On 31 July 2007, Lewis joined Morecambe on loan until 31 December 2007 to gain more first-team experience. Lewis was named in the England Under-21 squad on 30 August 2007.

Following his return from loan at Morecambe, Lewis was subject to a £400,000 bid from Peterborough United. Norwich accepted the bid, and Lewis completed the transfer on 8 January 2008.

Joe Lewis was also a Norfolk Youth Cricketer, and played his club cricket for Diss Cricket Club. Joe's height from a young age gave him an advantage. He was a tall fast bowler.
