Tantasqua Regional High School is a public high school in south-central Massachusetts, that serves the towns of Brimfield, Brookfield, Holland, Sturbridge and Wales.

Overview

Tantasqua Regional High School is located in Fiskdale, Massachusetts. The school is divided into two divisions, an Academic Division, and a Technical Division, which offers vocational training in Carpentry, Computer Aided Design/ Drafting, Computer Technology, Culinary Arts, Electrical Health Sciences and Manufacturing. Currently there are approximately 1300 students enrolled in the school in both divisions. The school colors are green and gold and the school song is Men of Harlech.

History

Tantasqua Regional High School was founded in 1954. A new high school was completed in 2002. The school derives its name from Tantiusques ("tan-tas-qua"), a Nipmuck word meaning "to a black deposit between two hills1.

Athletics

Tantasqua has varsity teams in the following sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track, Field Hockey, Football, Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, Tennis, and starting in 2007, Lacrosse. In 2007, the Boys Basketball team captured the MIAA Division II State Championship. The following season they made it to the MIAA D-2 State Finals again, only to lose in a rematch with Catholic Memorial.
