Yūsei Fudō (不動遊星, Fudō Yūsei) is the main protagonist of the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.
Fictional character biography
Yusei is very different from the protagonist of the previous Yu-Gi-Oh! series. He is calm and cool much of the time, but when his friends and beliefs are threatened he will fight till the end to protect them. His friends all respect and admire him for his honor and great dueling skills.
Yusei's greatest rival is Jack Atlus, who was once his best friend. Two years prior to the start of the series, Jack betrayed Yusei and stole his best monster card, "Stardust Dragon", along with his D-Wheel which he had spent so much time building and perfecting.[1] Now Yusei has built a new D-Wheel and is out to win back his friend and his Dragon.
As several of the main characters of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's do, Yusei bears a "Dragon Mark", representing part of the Crimson Dragon. His mark is located on his right arm, and is in the shape of the Dragon's tail. It first appears during his duel with Jack, when Stardust and Red Daemon's Dragon attack one another.[2]
Deck
Yusei strongly believes that all Duel Monsters cards have a purpose, that they were each created for a reason. His deck reflects this, containing monsters which many people would consider weak and worthless.[3] Several of his cards are also "speed" themed, to correspond with the introduction of the new Riding Duel system. This "Speed/Junk" deck focuses on summoning Tuner monsters and tributing them to summon more powerful Synchro monsters with stronger abilities. Yusei's best card is the Synchro monster "Stardust Dragon", which was stolen by his rival Jack. Yusei's main goal in the series so far has been to confront Jack and win this card back.
