* Reason: I just made my login with my name, but without separation, with lowercase starting letter, it look normal to me and I use it often, but with starting uppercase (what I just realized as a method, after finished my account creation), I don't like it. If my name at Wikipedia need to start with uppercase letter, I want to use my normal Firstname Surname. Thanks. Changing username/Simple
This page is a forum in which users can request, and global renamers (including stewards) can consider and carry out, requests to rename accounts to usernames that are not yet taken on any Wikimedia project. While global renamers carry out renames, other users (including bots) help by "clerking" the mechanics of this process. If you wish to help as a clerk, please read the linked page carefully.

Instructions
For help 'vanishing' from Wikipedia,
please see courtesy vanishing.

Once you have decided on the name you would like:

  1. Read this page first. You must be aware of, and understand, all of that information before requesting a username change
  2. Check to make sure this username is not already in use. Do this by searching for the name here. If the name appears in the results, even if on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
  3. Do not create an account under the new name or move/redirect your userpages. We'll do that for you.
  4. Log in with your present username in order to place your request. Renames will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Click here to place your request.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=
    • Do not change anything after CURRENT=
  6. Make sure that you have spelt your desired name correctly, including capitalization and spacing. Save the page. If your request is submitted malformed, please remedy it according to this page.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed. If you do not answer any questions, your request may be declined due to no response.
  8. Once your request has been completed, please do not remove or change your request. It will be archived automatically by a bot.
  • Requests that do not adhere to these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

Important Notes After you are renamed...
  • Due to technical limitations, usernames may not start with a lowercase letter. However, you may use the template {{lowercase title}} on your user and user talk pages, and change your signature to reflect your preference.
  • Underscores and spaces are considered identical by the MediaWiki software.
  • Use of a company, organization, group, website, or product name as a username is prohibited by the username policy.
  • Please understand the implications of using your real name before requesting a name change to it.
  • ... your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited.
  • ... your userpage and any subpages will be moved to the new name automatically. Please do not attempt to move them yourself.
  • ... links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be left behind to your new userpage.
  • ... your request will be automatically moved to the archives in the interest of transparency.

Current requests

Add new requests to the bottom of the page.

海獺

Distribution request. ja:User:海獺(an admin of jawiki) want to create account User:海獺. But this account created by ja:大分佐伯 a cross-wiki vandal user. He wrote "英語版の「海獺」は私のアカウントではありません。 出来れば私のアカウントにしたいと思っています。 (mean User:海獺@enwiki is not me. And I want to get this username.)" in his userpage. Plese rename 海獺 to other name. --Marine-Blue [ talk contribs ] 06:12, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

not done -- this user should make the request himself. He is welcome to create a new account to do it. — Dan | talk 01:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm looking into getting a message translated for this user so he can make the request. I de-templatized the not done so it wouldn't archive right away. - Taxman Talk 14:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, this is ja:User:海獺(an admin of jawiki). I want to get this account. Please :) --海獺(らっこ) (talk) 15:16, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On hold -- This request will be completed as soon as bugzilla:14330, which creates problems with 'guest' accounts, is resolved. (This will require a steward to delete the global account "海獺", and to rename User:海獺(らっこ) to User:海獺, after which 海獺 will have to create his global account again.) — Dan | talk 16:17, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ziko-en → Ziko

On hold - You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 22:53, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't know what you mean by "global account".--Ziko-en (talk) 11:52, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A global account is what is created when you use Special:Mergeaccount to merge all your Wikimedia accounts into one 'global' or 'unified' account that you can use on any WM project. Before any accounts with the same name as this global one can be moved, a steward needs to delete it (the global account). Requests can be made here. Once this move/usurpation has completed, you can use Mergeaccount again to reunify your accounts including the one here. RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 12:13, May 30, 2008 (UTC)

Tuffcutshears → TuffCutShears

On hold - You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 05:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LittleMsPerfect → Chanlyn

On hold - You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 17:50, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikieditor222 → RETIRED

Bureaucrat note: - Cannot rename user Wikieditor222 locally as this username has been migrated to the unified login system. Kingturtle (talk) 18:37, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 10:02, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A better solution is simply to use the {{retired}} template on your userpage. nneonneo talk 22:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Srmagnetismo → HAMM

Bureaucrat note: - Cannot rename user Srmagnetismo locally as this username has been migrated to the unified login system. Kingturtle (talk) 18:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 10:02, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Garbutt ← Itsallaboutrich

Note: Moved from WP:CHU/U as target not taken. seresin ( ¡? ) 18:03, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: One of the templates got fouled up; I replaced it with the bog-standard {{user}} template. -Jéské (v^_^v E pluribus unum) 23:42, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done - as you have no edits, you can just create a new account with your preferred name. WjBscribe 09:47, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WhoHasChaosKnign → ChaosKnign

  • Reason: I am the person who goes by ChaosKnign. I own the domain and post in different BBS' using this username. I don't remember creating this username on Wikipedia but when I tried registering it, it was already taken. The ChaosKnign username has not created any articles and doesn't have an e-mail registered. I would like to have access to it to start writing articles and I'm afraid if someone writes with this username it will be associated with me. Thanks. 14:56, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Not done The name ChaosKnign (talk · contribs) is already taken. As the account has no edits, it can be usurped; to do so, place a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Kingturtle (talk) 20:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spgomavs41 → Bcclayouth

Not done - requested username is that of an organisation. Promotional usernames are against Wikipedia's username policy. WjBscribe 09:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tangra680 → Tourbillon

On hold - You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 09:42, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Informaticsmalaysia → Normal22

Not done. The name Normal22 is already taken. Please select a name that is not listed at Special:Listusers. WjBscribe 09:45, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AshleyWitchcrafter → JanetAshleyCP

- whether to change the username - or to add another account with a new username? I, originally, chose Ashley Witchcrafter because I wanted to create, edit, and/or add to articles to do with "metaphysical" properties of crystals, herbs, numbers, etc plus articles to do with witchcraft and Wicca. I do, officially, go by that name - and I have a website under that name. I don't consider it a commercial name - however, after re-reading your username policy, perhaps, I'm wrong. My website URL is: http://www.psican.org/Ashley/ashley.html Currently, I'm researching paleo events, which includes paleo extinction events. The North Atlantic Igneous Province is an article that does not exist. I would like to create the article. I feel that if I create an article that is not directly related to witchcraft or Wicca, then the AshleyWitchcrafter username may be considered inappropriate or open to ridicule, etc. Thank you. AshleyWitchcrafter (talk) 15:58, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As long as you don't promote a product or service with your username, it should be fine either way. What do you want us to do? AshleyWitchrafter is a perfectly fine username, but keep in mind Wikipedia's policies regarding attribution and sources when contributing and I don't see a problem with your plans.
