Mate Bilić (born in October 23, 1980 in Split) is a Croatian football player. He began his career in 1997 at Croatian club Hajduk Split, with whom he won the Croatian Legue title in 2000-01. In 2001 he transferred to Real Zaragoza in Spain. One year later he changed to another Spanish club, UD Almería and then later to Sporting de Gijón, also from Spain, remaining in the country in 2004, as he signed with Córdoba CF and in 2005-06, joining forces with lowly UE Lleida. He made 17 goals there. He has also played more than twenty U-21 internationals for Croatia. In June 2006 he signed with the Austrian club, SK Rapid Wien. Not long enough, he returned to Spain in January 2008, as he rejoined the Asturian side of Sporting Gijón.
