Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld is a late-night/early morning talk show on the Fox News Channel.
Format
Airing at 3:00 a.m. ET on weekdays with repeats on weekends at 1:00 a.m. ET .[1] The show covers a variety of topics, including news, entertainment, sports, and gossip. Hosted by former Maxim UK editor Greg Gutfeld, the show features a round table of panelists, as well as guests linked by satellite.[2] Bill Schulz appears as a regular panelist, while Andrew Levy acts as the show's primary ombudsman. Michelle Collins works as the substitute ombudsmen on days when Levy is unavailable or when he's in the main studio. Collins has also substituted for Gutfeld as host. Rachel Marsden was a regular panelist on the show until May 2007.
Jackie Gutfeld ("Mrs. Gutfeld," Greg's mother) serves as the show's "senior correspondent." Michael Baden, a forensic pathologist, is the "death correspondent" of the show, having appeared multiple times to comment on news stories involving corpses or death. Tracey Westmoreland is the show's night life correspondent. Joe Francis was the show's "jailhouse correspondent" when he was serving time in prison and is now the show's "political correspondent." Janine Driver is the shows "Body Language educator". The show's mascots are Unicorn Jones and Fluffy McNutter, a cat-dog hybrid created by Gutfeld.
The show begins with Gutfeld's introduction of his guests, usually with either couched or explicit sexual inferences about each of them, often double entendres. The show is peppered with such inferences, sometimes including obscene imagery.

Unicorns
Greg is rather fond of, to the point of obsession, the majestic and mythological creatures known as unicorns. One of the more popular recurring segments of the show is "Greg draws the News" which almost always consists of Unicorn Jones and the cat-dog hybrid Fluffy McNutter, engaged in some sort of adventure. This popular segment has gone from daily, to occurring infrequently. Celebrities who have been "drawn" as part of various depictions of news stories on more than one occasion include Wilford Brimley, Bill Gates, and Kevin Spacey. As with unicorns, a running joke of the show has been the fact that Brimley is an object of Greg's faux-lust.
A feature of the show is the Red Eye roving reporter in which viewers send in stories and in return receive a coveted Red Eye press pass, a laminated card with a picture of a unicorn on it also known as a unicard.
Houseboys
Although Greg Gutfeld is married, another running joke on the show is the fact that Greg has "houseboys" of various ethnicities. These houseboys are unpaid, and are acquired through advertisements in foreign papers for students wishing to "learn a skill abroad." Some houseboys are said to have suffered an untimely demise. Popular houseboys from the past include "Dat Ho," allegedly Vietnamese, "Julio," intentionally mispronounced "Julie-Oh" with a j-sound, and the Greek "Pilates." Occasionally, the houseboy reference is altered to that of a "pool boy." Greg is always clear that the every houseboy that he employs is over the age of 18, although the veracity of his claims is always subject to mirthful skepticism from the panelists.
Rachel Marsden's departure
On Wednesday, May 30, 2007, regular Red Eye panelist Rachel Marsden was removed from the show and escorted out of the Red Eye offices by security guards, which Marsden alleged is standard procedure when a Fox employee is fired.[25],[26] On her blog, Marsden, said, "I will no longer be appearing on the show, as I have been told that it is heading in a 'different direction' from its inception and I am the 'first casualty.' As a political and news commentator, being a panelist on what had become a totally off-the-wall-and-into-orbit show was an interesting experience. It was also the first time that I was ever considered the 'sane one' on any program, so I am grateful for that unique opportunity and wish the boys the very best of luck.'"[27] Her last appearance on the show was the May 30, 2007, episode at 2 a.m.
Legal issues
Following the first weeks of the program, the Chicago Tribune filed suit against News Corporation, the company which owns Fox News Channel, alleging that the show's title could be confused with the Tribune's free commuter daily, RedEye, launched in 2002.[28] FNC has admitted it did not run a trademark check prior to naming the program and changed the title of the show's section of the FoxNews.com website from Red Eye to Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld[29]
